What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
J. Selby's is lauded as a top vegan spot in St. Paul, praised for its creative comfort food and friendly, prompt service. Diners rave about the buffalo wings, nachos, and burgers, though some find certain textures unusual. While the cozy atmosphere is a plus, parking can be a challenge during peak times.
"I chose this place because my friend is a Vegetarian and I'm always down to try stuff. I absolutely loved everything I had here! The crunchwrap was delicious and was actually pretty to look at once it was split open. My friend had Mel's Ranch Wrap and gave his Vegetarian seal of approval! I also ordered a seasonal frostbite which was so good! I like their method of ordering at the counter and then taking your number to your table. All the food came out quickly and the staff was really helpful to me and my naivety with plant-based foods. They have Happy Hour specials Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday between 3 and 6pm. The people around us also recommended the brunch served here! Will definitely come back!"

"I was honestly surprised at how much I loved the food here! I went with my friend that is vegan and we both loved our food. I got the chicken wings and he got the pesto grilled cheese. The mozzarella sticks tasted great but the texture was a bit... unsettling lol
The milkshakes were so good, so we'll definitely be back!"

"I’ve been to J. Selby’s twice now, and both times were fantastic. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch. My favorite dishes by far were the Crunchwrap and the Animal Fries—both absolutely delicious and super satisfying. If you’re in Minneapolis and looking for amazing plant-based comfort food, I highly recommend checking this place out!"

13 Best Restaurants in St. Paul, From Casual to Fine Dining
Though just over a year old, this plant-based eatery has become a favorite or Twin Cities vegetarians and vegans. That’s right: everything on the menu is made of made from plants. That means no meat, seafood, dairy, eggs or honey.
St. Paul's Best Restaurants
J. Selby’s was founded on the belief that vegans shouldn’t miss out on hot wings with ranch, loaded nachos, and smashburgers — and thank goodness for that. This airy Selby Avenue spot turns out comfort food for the plant-based set, but omnivores certainly won’t feel like they’re missing anything while digging into an order of deep-fried local mushrooms or a classic sandwich featuring the excellent chickin’ of Minneapolis’ Herbivorous Butcher. Who says meat-eaters have all the fun?

If you’re craving that naughty bar food you never expected to be able to eat on a vegetarian diet, J Selby’s is your spot. This entirely plant-based menu includes some stunners. The “buffalo wings” made out of cauliflower is the menu item that really put them on the map, but you’ll also find a “Dirty Secret” burger made out of two non-beef patties, a “Gyro” crafted with seitan, and even a taco-bell-style Crunchwrap Supreme.
12 best St. Paul brunch restaurants: Saturday, Sunday and weekday
This casual, order-at-the-counter plant-based vegan eatery is all about comfort food, and the brunch here — even sans meat — carries out that theme, too. Fluffy pancakes served with a better-than-average maple syrup was our favorite. If you can get over the texture difference, tofu scrambles that emulate scrambled eggs and Herbivorous Butcher “meats” make for flavorful and herbaceous brunch dishes.

The Dirty Little Secret - two non-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheeze, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun - may sound familiar.
