Chef-owner Matt O'Neil made a name for himself by winning Boston Magazine’s Battle of the Burger three years in a row. But when it came to open Ledger, he partnered with A Voce and Bouley New York alum Daniel Gursha to feature New England fare. Housed in the beautiful 1818 Salem Savings Bank building, the ambiance and the food both contribute to the outstanding dining experience.

It’s a wonderful creation that is early enough to enjoy delicious egg dishes or waffles while late enough in the day to indulge in an adult beverage, guilt-free. Salem has many tasty brunch spots however; I have narrowed it down to my top two. The first being Ledger Restaurant & Bar, a former 1818 bank transformed into a unique downtown Salem hot spot.

I still daydream about this dinner because it was hands down FANTASTIC. Ledger Restaurant is owned by Matt O’Neill, a good friend that used to work at the club with my husband years ago and now has two incredible restaurants (one in Salem, one in Lynn). The kitchen is led by executive chef Daniel Gursha and his team really makes so incredible food.

Ledger is located in downtown Salem, in what used to be a 19th-century bank. Their chef, Daniel Gursha, is highly appraised for his work and was nominated by the James Foundation as the “Best Chef Northeast,” which certainly speaks volumes for the food. The menu is a collaborative attempt to infuse old-style New England cuisine with a modern twist.

Ledger Restaurant in Salem is a true gem when it comes to finding the best lobster in town. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was overwhelmed by the excellent service provided by the attentive and knowledgeable staff. They made me feel right at home and were more than happy to answer any questions I had about their lobster dishes.

Adriatic is casual white-tablecloth, serving upscale Mediterranean, while Ledger and Opus top many hipster magazine lists, and are great spots for appetizers and craft cocktails. At Finz, on the wharf, the sushi game is strong. And Turner’s Seafood, only seven years old in its Salem location, is practically an institution.

You can find a lot of cheap-eats spots and ultra-casual takeout places in Salem, but if you’re looking for something more upscale, Ledger Restaurant (125 Washington Street) is a great option not only for its delicious New American fare but also for its atmosphere, as it is located inside an historic bank building.

Ledger Restaurant is historical and modern, all at the same time, with a diverse and traditional menu to match. The restaurant sits on Washington Street in a haunting and historic section of Salem, with the historic old town hall not far away. It's not only in a historical section of town, though.

One such restaurant is Ledger (pictured below), housed in an old bank originally built in 1818. This history inspires both the decor and the menu, with Ledger reinterpreting 19th century dishes and cocktails for today’s diners. Ledger is perfect for dressing up and celebrating a special occasion.

If you want burgers Boston Burger is great and their milkshakes are out of this world, seriously they are a work of art!. Howling Wolf is good too if you are looking for Mexican food. For a quick bite we also like The Gyro Spot or a sandwich at A & J King or Crave for breakfast sandwiches & tots.

Ledger is one of the best restaurants in Salem, and the perfect place to grab dinner after a long day of exploring. I would recommend trying the Painkiller and Devlish Diva from their cocktail menu, as well as the Radiatori Bolognese from their dinner menu - simply delicious!

Captivating history abounds at Ledger, located in the second-oldest savings bank building in the country. The interior retains the building's history while adding the right amount of modern flair. The result is a stunning contemporary dining ambiance.

We kicked of Sunday morning with coffee from Odd Meter and then brunch at The Ledger and it was AMAZING. I had a mimosa and the Brussel Sprout Hash. Yum! They also have a different donut every week and these came highly recommended from the locals!.

A " 2019 best brunch" spot with breakfast food and drinks at practically any time of day. Their chicken and waffles, maple-glazed pork belly, Banana Bread Forester, and daily flavored donuts are noted as favorites. They're open for dinner as well.

With amazing food, unique drinks and a lovely setting how could it not be a favorite??. I love their Notch Beer battered fish sandwich on the lunch menu, the regular burger on the dinner menu as well as the grilled half chicken on the dinner menu.

More good eats in Salem include Flying Saucer Pizza and Ledger. And if you are looking for a nice place to stay in Salem, I suggest the historic (and possibly haunted) Hawthorne Hotel, located across the street from Goodnight Fatty.

Located right downtown, Ledger is the perfect place for a date!. It has beautiful décor that’s reminiscent of an old bank, a 20’s speakeasy vibe, massive ceilings, and delicious food. The service at Ledger is incredible as well.

Ledger’s food is outstanding and hosting your event in their “Macomber Room” is a great idea. It can fit up to 55 seated guests and is gorgeous with the exposed beams and modern vibes.

Ledger was one of my favorite restaurants I visited in all of Salem. If you only go to one more expensive place in Salem on your trip, I’d recommend this one. Trust me - it’s worth it.
