What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Boudro's on the Riverwalk is praised for its lively atmosphere and signature tableside guacamole, often cited as a highlight of the San Antonio dining scene. Many guests enjoy the river views and the elevated takes on Southern comfort food, though some reviews mention inconsistencies in food quality and service, with a few finding the pricing a bit high for the overall experience.
"I visited San Antonio for the first time this weekend, and I was genuinely surprised by how beautiful, spacious, and well-organized the city is — but what truly stole my heart (and my stomach!) was this incredible restaurant by the river.
Normally when I travel, I like to try different restaurants to experience a variety of foods, but this place was the exception — I came back three times! Even just a few hours before my flight home, I made sure to stop by one last time to try the lunch special they had told me about the night before.
The food is SPECTACULARLY delicious. The flavor combinations are mind-blowing, the ingredients are fresh, and everything is cooked to absolute perfection.
Another big highlight: I’m usually not a big fan of red meat, but this restaurant changed the game for me. I ended up eating more meat than I ever do — and loving it! Everything was so flavorful and perfectly done that I got to experience a new appreciation for it.
When I return to San Antonio, this will be a must-visit spot for me, no doubt about it. I actually wanted to personally thank the chef for such an amazing experience, but the kitchen was so busy I didn’t want to interrupt — so I hope this message reaches both the chef and the entire team.
From the kitchen to the servers, everyone was so kind, attentive, and professional — you all made my trip extra special. I’ll be sharing some photos of the dishes I tried here too!
Endless thanks to everyone at Boudro’s! You truly made this visit unforgettable."

"Went to celebrate my friends birthday. I had never been to or heard of this restaurant before. Prices were a little high so I was expecting great food. The food was honestly average like anything I could have gotten at red lobster. My lobster was overcooked and stuck to the shell. The stake had some strange curry butter on it. It was a bland bitter taste so I scooped that off. They wouldn’t let the kids order from the lunch menu and didn’t have any options for people who don’t want all the weird stuff so she told my kid to order the prime rib, which she ended up not liking because it was full of fat. Atmosphere was decent, a little loud but not too bad. Floors were old, chipped, and cracked tile like the kind you see in a McDonald’s kitchen and the chairs weren’t very comfortable. The waitress was training another waitress which was fine. We all split our checks and I paid for my family. Her kids paid for hers (collage kids who work part time). After everything was all paid for and every one had left the waitress came to me to ask if everything was okay. I was shocked and said yes why?! She then told me that no one left a tip. I in fact did leave a tip. It may have not been what she thinks she should have gotten but it was based off the quality of food and service. I’m not the type who’s going to complain about things and have you take it back to the kitchen, but I am the type to tip based on what I felt it was worth. To approach someone and tell them you didn’t get tipped is crazy. Gratuity is something that is earned and should not be expected just because you slap a sticker price on something and say it’s worth it. I will say the presentation of the food was nice but it didn’t taste the way it all looked."

"We visited this spot in San Antonio on a weekday, and it wasn’t too busy—perfect for just chilling and enjoying the vibe by the river. The menu leans toward seafood and meat dishes with a nice selection of wines.
We started with the guacamole, which our server Jarvis made fresh right at the table. It was delicious, super fresh, and I especially loved the chunky texture. My husband ordered the chicken dish—at first it looked a bit dry, but it was actually tender, juicy, and flavorful(but I’m not a bean person )
Overall, I chose this place because it wasn’t crowded, and the riverside atmosphere made it even better. We had a really good time here. Thank you, Jarvis, for taking such great care of us!"
