What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Kingfisher's exceptional and attentive service, often calling it the best they've experienced. The Vietnamese-French fusion cuisine is described as a 'flavor bomb' with unique and delicious dishes, though some find the portions small for the price. The glamorous ambiance adds to the overall upscale dining experience, making it a highly recommended spot for a special occasion.
"Flavor bomb dining experience at Kingfisher! Every dish we ordered was outstanding, from taste to depth of flavor, temperature, texture, and presentation. Our server Tanya was delightful. Food was served timely, allowing sufficient time between each course. The libations were an A+ (the Chè Thài was amazing if you prefer sweeter cocktails). We started with the baguette, then the crudo, Japanese eggplant & chicken wings, sea bass, then skirt steak. I’d highly recommend each one of these dishes, but the top three included the crudo, Japanese eggplant, & sea bass.
Although amazing, it is pricey, considering they suggest for a party of four to share 7 to 10 dishes. When they state that their dishes are served “family style,”don’t expect huge portions. It’s more like “sampling.” The crudo allowed for each person to take one bite, which if you break it down was $7.25 per bite. The baguette is harshly priced at $14 (sized a tad bit longer than the length of my hand). Two of us only got one chicken wing. The house baguette, 5 dishes, 3 cocktails, and 1 coke= $340 including the 20% automatic service fee. It was interesting comparing their menu prices from 2-3 years ago. Just goes to show the state of inflation.
I am absolutely happy and satisfied from our dining experience. It was definitely a splurge! Everyone should try Kingfisher at least once."

"I visited for the Valentine’s Day prix-fixe dinner. The service and atmosphere was great, but the food is just very average.
I had high expectations before coming in as I prepaid almost $400 for two. To start off, the dish portion is ridiculously small. One oyster, one scallop, one shrimp, one ahi roll, and two slices of steak plus dessert (which is too sweet) and some veggies are far from getting either of us filled. I should at least be full walking out the restaurant for over $400 of the meal. The food tastes okay, but definitely not impressing and interesting. I’ve had similar food that’s far more amazing and filling at other places for just around $100 per person. Totally not worth the $$$ and would not go to any prix-fixe dinner at this place again.
Also, we reserved for the indoor bar seating because by the time we booked there was only bar or outdoor left. I don’t like cold so I chose the indoor option. However, they left the doors and windows all wide open. I guess it’s easier for them to walk to and serve the outdoor tables? But indoor seats are SO COLD. The outdoor seats got heaters but indoors don’t, so I feel like it’s even colder than outdoor seating. What’s the point of indoor seating if you’re gonna leave the doors and windows open and let the wind inside?
This place was not my first choice when I booked but other places I wanna try are all filled. Given that they have a special menu for Valentine’s Day and they charge so much (again, over $400 for two) which sets out expectation high, my partner and I are so disappointed at what we got, it’s a waste of money."

The 25 Best Restaurants In San Diego - San Diego
Cocooned in gilded wallpaper, the dramatically-lit dining room is a glittering backdrop for its menu of Vietnamese-French food, like a spicy spin on beef tartare with thai chiles and crispy shallots that not only reimagine the bistro classic. There’s also a show-stopping platter of dry-aged seared duck breast and confit duck leg that usually sells out before the end of the night, and a flan cloaked in Vietnamese coffee syrup, one of the city’s best desserts. The drink menu is worth its own review, but we’ll stop at the Saigon Moped, a mix of gin, debitterized bitter melon, perilla, and lime that makes a perfect sidecar for the salt-and-pepper fish belly snack that’s served only at the bar.
