Reviews Summary

The Leaning Pear is praised for its beautiful setting and creative, delicious food, particularly its pizzas and seasonal dishes. While many enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and attentive service, some reviews mention slow service during busy periods and inconsistencies with certain dishes, like the Reuben sandwich.

"Loved The Leaning Pear! The staff was so welcoming and kind from the moment we walked in- we felt right at home (thanks Morgan). The food was amazing, and ice tea was the best I’ve had. We enjoyed our lunch so much we came back for dinner! Highly recommend for great food, service and atmosphere."

Danielle Glenn

"We stopped by this weekend for some early dinner and drinks with friends. Nice place but a bit rowdy outside with lots of unsupervised kids running around. Servers were nice and seemed to be hustling so they were likely understaffed as service was a bit slow.

To drink, the girls had the pink frozen gin drinks and I had the mangonada. Both were pretty delicious but the mangonadas take awhile to to be served so be prepared. I was originally going to get a craft beer but the selection was pretty limited. To eat, we shared the pretzels and the sprouts. The pretzels were decent but the sprouts stood out for me, which is a bit surprising based on my normal preferences. To eat, we shared a 1/2 rueben, 1/2 pimento cheese (its cool they let you do 1/2s), and a small house salad. The salad was fantastic with the pecans and vinaigrette and of the two sandwiches, I'd lean to the pimento cheese."

Josh Poe

"We rode out to Wimberley to have lunch on a Saturday and decided to go here. We arrived around 1pm and It was pretty busy but we were seated within 5 minutes. We chose to sit indoors since we were out in the Sun the entire 2 hour ride there. Seemed like everyone who drove there in a car wanted to sit outdoors on their patio so it was longer wait for that. I chose to have a pizza and my husband chose to have their BBLT. He was not that impressed with the sandwich, but the Uncle Art pizza that I had was extremely delicious. It’s a thin crust pizza with artichokes, spinach and prosciutto and a light creamy garlic sauce, not tomato based sauce. Now their iced tea is not normal black iced tea. It has several different flavors in their recipe. Even the waitress couldn’t tell us exactly what kind of tea it was but it was really flavorful and light.
If you are wanting to sit outside on a gorgeous day with a good variety of foods, try this place."

Restaurants in Wimberley

What started as a quaint farm-to-table restaurant inside an old house has become an institution in Wimberley. Though the look is much more farmhouse-modern these days, the menu still features the same delicious food they've been known for, like their farm-fresh soups, salads, sandwiches and shareable appetizers. Heartier offerings, like wood-fired pizza, and an expanded menu of entrées, such as the crab cake or chicken and grits, make for even better dinner options.

Best places to eat in Wimberley: barbecue, tacos and upscale fare

Rachel and Matthew Buchanan are as responsible as anyone in town for helping create the modern Wimberley food scene. The married couple opened their original restaurant (which still exists on the same 11-acre family property as the current Pear) in 2007, bringing fresh, seasonal flavors and craftsmanship to colorful salads, craveable sandwiches (the corned beef Reuben may be the town’s most iconic dish) and Hill Country-inspired entrees like chicken and grits. The move from the 19th century building to the tall, light-filled modern space brought more guests, but the attention to detail in the kitchen and the cheery service remain.

A Glimmer of Tasty Hope in a Small Town: Where to find the good eats in Wimberley - Food

As a Wimberley native I know my stuff, so I knew I’d be SOL in the culinary department when I moved back home from Austin a year ago. I literally lost weight because of the town’s early closing hours and lack of good, varied food. If it’s after dusk and you’re not in the mood for Sysco’s finest, you’re choices are basically limited to either a hot pocket from Exxon or going hungry … Then I found Kate’s Place, and I’ve been in love ever since.
