What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Negril Spice is praised for its authentic and flavorful Jamaican cuisine, with standout dishes like oxtail and jerk chicken receiving consistent high marks. While many appreciate the generous portions and welcoming atmosphere, some diners have noted inconsistencies in food preparation and occasionally slow service during busy periods.
"I'm giving 5 stars here because it's exactly what you want from a Jamaican restaurant. The food was fresh and very flavorful. I tried the Mac n cheese, and it didn't disappoint. The jerk pork was very good. I do wish it was more meat than fat. It felt like the ratio was off but not enough to lower my rating. Will definitely be going back to try other menu items."

"I love their oxtails but they are about $3 more than the other locations. I usually drive 30min to go the the other spot that’s cheaper, they tend to give me a lot more oxtails there. Today I decided to splurge on a large oxtail and came at noon for a large $26 plate. I was extremely annoyed because the lady informed me that the cabbage wouldn’t be ready for a while. I offered to wait if it was 10-15min but she shook her head as to tell me that it would be longer. I asked how would she compensate me for the missing cabbage which I love and she offered me extra rice (which is free anyways). I asked about the Mac and cheese (not extra meat) as a side to make up for them not having their kitchen together and she tried to charge me an additional $4 on my almost $30 plate. I hate when businesses don’t properly compensate for their lack food preparation. Americans understand that happy customers come back so they give discounts or extra food but Jamaicans tend to have a “oh well, take it or leave it” attitude. My food was more than I usually pay, it came with 7 small/ medium size oxtails and it was missing a main side."

"I’m on vacation and this is the only Caribbean:
/Jamaican restaurant open on a Sunday. It smells pretty good in here and I can’t wait to try the food. I got the large jerk and large curry chicken meal with 2 tingz and left 20% tip for about 32$. If your passing through Sanford on the way to beach stop here."

Thankfully, right on Sanford Avenue is Negril Spice, the authentic Jamaican cuisine. The moment I learned this spot added what they call “veggie chunks” to their menu, I visited there immediately. Not only do they have plant-based options, but faux meats have been unheard of in this area.
