Century City The two-year-old LA outpost of this chain of energetic marketplaces is a shrine to all things edible and Italian, including daily-made fresh pastas -- many of which you can find at the duo of casual carb counters La Pizza & La Pasta, where you can spy skilled pasta makers doing their thing. The stuffed offerings are especially notable here, with a seasonal rotating ravioli and a hearty spinach-and-fresh-ricotta-filled pansotti: ruffled-edge half moons done with a rustic walnut pesto. Upstairs, the swankier rooftop restaurant Terra focuses on fare from its massive wood-fire grill, but the pasta offering is equally solid with black squid ink spaghetti contrasted with peachy pieces of Santa Barbara uni along with a simple chitarra pomodoro.

Boasting two restaurants, a café, a butchery, a pizza stall, a bread bakery, a gelateria and a rooftop-perched respite serving some of the best grilled meats on the Westside, Eataly is one stunning ode to Italian cuisine. L.A.’s sprawling outpost occupies more that 60,000 square feet at the corner of the Westfield Century City, giving us plenty of choices and room to explore when we’re looking for a meal. It’s hard to go wrong with any of the options here, but the standout is the splendid rooftop spot, Terra—which keeps the focus on rustic meats, handmade pastas, gin cocktails and a roving gelato cart.

Drinking on the roof of a mall sounds like an activity you’d get caught doing in high school, but in Century City, it’s a whole scene. Terra is one of several sit-down dining options in the Eataly complex, but it’s the only one with an outdoor patio and views of the Hollywood Hills. And that means on weekdays, the place is slammed with agents and managers pounding spritzes, picking at salads, and talking trash about their clients.

Since you like Italian food, you might want to look in at Eataly in Century City shopping center. I haven't eaten in there, but there are always lots of folks there. They have about everything Italian there.

Named for "earth" in Italian, Terra is a rooftop restaurant and lounge located on the third floor of Eataly in Century City. The food is centered on the wood-burning Italian grill - to pair with the earthy dishes, the extensive drink list showcases regional Italian wines and botanical cocktails. You can build your own Gin & Tonic, or sip signatures like the Via Nizza - the house Negroni is made with Sipsmith Gin, Terra's Aperitivo Blend, and Carpano Antica; and the Gaia Spritz with Banhez Mezcal, house made beet syrup, Aperol, lemon juice, prosecco and soda.

Brought to the Westfield Century City as part of a massive, multi-year overhaul that included an upscale revamp of the mall's food court, the Mario Batali-free Eataly is an oddity. Part grocery chain, part food hall and part tourist attraction, it isn't a sit-and-chill space although it does offer indoor seating around its Rosso Pomodoro pizzeria. In fact, it's easy to get disoriented by all the activity, like pasta-makers feeding noodles through a grinder or the thump of house mozzarella being rolled.

Atop the Italian bazaar Eataly at Westfield Century City sits Terra, the third-floor terrace restaurant with a focus on wood grilling. The menu offers charred dishes including lamb chops, rotisserie chicken and skewers pierced with king trumpet mushrooms and stuffed pork shoulder, as well as house-made pastas. For a larger group, consider ordering the grigliata di pesce, a grilled seafood platter with swordfish, calamari, shrimp, clams, snow peas, caponata and Sicilian panelle.

With a huge market and more than a dozen spots serving prepared food, Eataly has been a people magnet since opening at the retooled Westfield Century City mall in late 2017. Wood-burning ovens produce springy Neapolitan pizzas and crispier, rectangular pies at La Pizza & La Pasta, while house-made tagliatelle with braised brisket ragù is a standout. Il Pesce Cucina is a seafood restaurant from Provi-dence chef Michael Cimarusti and partner Donato Poto.

Arrive at Terra via the vast grocery of imported foods, then make your way to the spacious rooftop patio with views of the Hollywood Hills. Settle into one of the chic rattan chairs or love seats with earth-toned cushions for a feast of exquisite homemade pastas and standout Italian dishes cooked over the wood-fired grill. And servers know the Italian-heavy wine list inside and out.

Whether we want more or not, Eataly will be opening its doors at the Westfield Century City mall this year. Already a smash hit in Europe and New York, Eataly is a food-and-beverage themed marketplace that got its start in Italy—hence the name. The famous food emporium will be the first on the West Coast, and will feature similar square-footage to the Chicago and New York halls.

This rooftop Italian grill at Eataly in the Century City’s Westfield mall is one of the best LA restaurants with a view. They cook up seasonal raw ingredients and must eats in Los Angeles from a fabulously flaming wood-burning grill. Terra is one of the cool places to eat in LA for a boozy brunch, with views of the Hollywood Hills and customizable bloody mary’s.

An abundance of Italian delicacies can be found at Eataly in Los Angeles. A concept created by Oscar Farinetti’s, originally sketched on a piece of paper, Eataly is now at 40 locations across the globe. For a taste of Italy right in SoCal, have some gelato on a hot day or sample some cheese cut fresh daily.

Enjoy rooftop views, wood-grilled dishes and botanical cocktails at Terra the rooftop restaurant at the Eataly Complex. Request a seat at one of several dining tables or opt for a more casual experience at the stand alone bar situated at the center of the roof.
