What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Walt's Fish Market for its incredibly fresh seafood and lively atmosphere, often highlighting signature dishes and the fun tiki bar. While the wait times can be long due to its popularity, the quality of the food and the overall enjoyable experience make it a highly recommended spot for seafood lovers.
"We were pointed toward Walt’s by some friendly locals while out playing pool, and I’m so glad we took their advice. From start to finish, this place delivered big-time.
We kicked things off with the Oyster Rockefeller, which set the tone, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For the main course, our group went all out and shared a variety of dishes: the Alaskan Fish & Chips, Captain’s Platter, Charred Grill Plate, and the Raspberry Chipotle Scallops. Every single dish was fresh, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. You could taste the quality of the seafood and the care in the kitchen.
We wrapped up the meal with their Key Lime Pie and Bread Pudding, both were a perfect sweet finish to an incredible meal.
If you’re in the area and want true local flavor with great vibes and even better seafood, Walt’s is a must. Trust the locals on this one!"

"We wrapped up our Sarasota trip with dinner at Walt’s Fish Camp, and despite a long wait for a table, the experience was absolutely worth it. We were quoted about an hour for a table, and the hostess was almost spot-on with the timing, something we appreciated. The wait wasn’t too bad for the three adults in our party thanks to one of the bars on-site, but our two kids definitely got a bit restless.
Once seated, things quickly turned around. Our server brought out a smoked fish dip that was incredible, creamy, flavorful, and gone in minutes. We also ordered the lobster bite appetizer and the fried grouper cheeks, both of which were excellent and full of coastal flavor. Every entrée we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. You could tell the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing when it comes to fresh seafood.
Overall, Walt’s delivered on all fronts, great food, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service. If we find ourselves back in Sarasota, we’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend for seafood lovers!"

"Nice local vibe. The food with good (not anything to write home about… but good enough). We had a great time over all and the waitress was very nice. This is a place we would go to again if we lived locally, it was worth the trip for sure."

Walts is touristy, but the quality of the fish is fantastic- I would recommend it for people who want a classic Florida dinner with local, fresh caught seafood. The atmosphere is great, but FYI the location isn’t walkable- it’s right on a major road, not downtown. It was a little pricier than a few of my other recs (which speaks to the quality of their seafood and the service!), so I would arrive early for their happy hour if you are on a budget.
