Reviews Summary

Alligator Soul Restaurant is lauded for its adventurous and unique menu, featuring exotic meats and flavorful Southern-Creole fusion dishes. Diners rave about the exceptional service, particularly for special occasions, and the intimate, cozy atmosphere. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, the emphasis on unique dishes means some may find the menu outside their comfort zone. It's consistently praised as a top dining destination in Savannah.

"To cap off our 10th wedding anniversary celebration in Savannah, we indulged in a dinner at Alligator Soul—and it exceeded every expectation we had.

From the moment we made reservations, the attention to detail was outstanding. They asked about dietary restrictions in advance, and when we checked in, the hosts congratulated us on our anniversary and even left a thoughtful card at our table. The atmosphere was perfect—chill, classy, and inviting, with soft lighting and elegant décor.

Our server, Pablo, was beyond exceptional. Not only did the menu have plenty of clearly marked gluten-free options, but Pablo also assured us that many dishes could be modified to accommodate my wife’s needs. We started with the Mushroom Salad, a beautifully balanced dish with greens, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, and crispy carrot chips—large enough to share and absolutely delicious.

For the main course, my wife had the Alligator Crab Cakes, which she thoroughly enjoyed, while I opted for the Wild Game Specialty of the night: Bison Ribeye. It was cooked to perfection, and the chimichurri sauce elevated it to the best steak dish I’ve ever had. Paired with crispy fries and greens, it was next-level.

To finish, we shared a gluten-free chocolate torte that was the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal. The service was impeccable—attentive yet never intrusive—and the entire staff was knowledgeable and welcoming.

Alligator Soul made our anniversary dinner truly special, and we will absolutely be returning. I can’t recommend it enough!"

"It's not very often I give a restaurant a solid 5... But this was really an excellent experience. Stopped in Savannah just for one night and found this on Google maps - the reviews seem to indicate it was something special and I'm delighted that it was so good. The sweet crispy alligator bites were exceptional... I would really recommend getting the appetizer platter for a selection of lots of different tastes. We enjoyed the mac and cheese and elk with duck fried potato chips (or French fries as you Americans say). They were one of the crispiest and best tasting things I've put in my mouth. No rude puns intended. Finish off with an espresso Martini you won't be disappointed. The service was just the right side of attentiveness without being too intrusive. Excellent !!! 👍"

"Alligator Soul Restaurant – A Special Experience 🌟
The moment we walked in, it felt like entering a cozy cave—quiet, unique, and full of character. The atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful, perfect for a memorable evening.

We tried the candied alligator, wild boar, and beanie dish—all delicious and full of flavor. Each plate had its own special touch, beautifully prepared and satisfying.

For dessert, we enjoyed a warm beignet with chicory ice cream. The mix of sweet and slightly bitter made a perfect ending.

✨ The service was outstanding—friendly, calm, and attentive.
Alligator Soul is a hidden treasure in Savannah. We’ll definitely come back!"

4.6 ★Some restaurants like to remain consistent, keeping the same menu no matter what time of the year is happening and while we can appreciate consistency, there is something special about a menu that rotates with the weather. Seasonal menus are always a delectable experience because the menu changes to suit what is being grown fresh. At Alligator Soul Restaurant on Barnard St, farm fresh ingredients that are locally sourced make every meal taste delicious in that southern sort of way.
