What Travellers Say

Reviews Summary

Roaring Fork offers a compelling "Modern Cowboy American" dining experience with expertly wood-fired dishes, particularly steaks and comfort food. While many praise the bold flavors, lively atmosphere, and attentive service, some reviews mention inconsistencies in execution and less-than-perfect dishes.

"The atmosphere here is perfect. It’s not as loud as most of the other restaurants around town. I ordered the Seabass. It was amazing! Then I ordered cheesecake for dessert. This was not good. With the exception of the cheesecake, this restaurant was fantastic. I would definitely die in here again."

"I made a reservation for my nephew and I. We wanted a nice steak. When we got there we were seated quickly however they sat us by the kitchen and I found the staff distracting with how they were acting. Our menus were empty. The server took a while to come around and give us menus. She took his drink order and gave me time with the menu but took another while to come back. Matt came around and checked on us so I gave him our appetizer order. The lamb was good but the fondue wouldn't stay lit because where we were sat. Nephew loved the Nashville chicken bites weren't too spicy. He loved them. We both ordered the NY Strip Steak. I ordered medium and him medium well. After a short while we realized they gave us each other's steak. We switched but as you can imagine- eating a steak after a teenage has cut into it is not the most visually pleasing steak anymore. Overall I was disappointed in the service. Dinner didn't come with ease. We enjoyed each other's company but it was a 2 hour dinner. I tipped 18% but normally I like to tip 25-30% with great service. They frustrated me during dinner but I just had to smile and shake it off. I used to come here a lot. I'm not sure I'll ever care to go back."

"Dinner at Roaring Fork in Scottsdale, a short drive from Phoenix, hit all the right notes—bold cowboy country flavours with a refined twist. Think open-flame cooking, local ingredients, and a splash of Mexican flair.

We warmed up with their Green Chili Pork Stew—tender pork in a spicy green chili broth, gooey pepperjack, and soft, buttered flour tortillas. Total comfort on a chilly night. Steak lovers, don’t sleep on the 16oz New York Strip. Wood-fired and hand-cut, it’s charred, smoky, juicy, and everything you want in a proper Southwestern steak.

The Ahi Tuna was a nice surprise—seared just right and super fresh. As for the Rotisserie Chicken, it was juicy and flavorful, though we did wish it was kampong chicken—but hey, that’s just us nitpicking. The space? Rustic cowboy charm meets cozy elegance. Soft lights, warm service, and good vibes all around."
