Belle Pastry French Bakery

Belle Pastry is a delightful bakery where folks can sample French sweet and savory treats alongside other sweet confections. Founded in 2003 by pastry chef and chocolatier Jean-Claude Ferré, this neighborhood bakery offers guests everything from croissants and cookies to desserts and quiches all within a friendly atmosphere. Specific treats to note include Parisian macarons, which come in a variety of flavors such as lavender, pumpkin and Nutella, raspberry cream-cheese croissants, cherry Danish rolls and pear caramel mousse to name but a few.

The panel sampled from eight Seattle artisanal bakeries — Café Besalu, Le Fournil, La Boulangerie, Honoré Artisan Bakery, North Hill Bakery, Essential Bakery, Le Panier and Bakery Nouveau — as well as Belle Pastry and the French Bakery in Bellevue. (We would have loved to sample more had time allowed; as it was, we scattered to these 10 on the same morning, then sped to my home to taste the croissants while they were still fresh.) Testers surrendered their bags in my kitchen, where I arranged the samples into a blind taste-test.

Staying on theme with new cultural experiences, the French Bakery is one of the most laissez-faire restaurants in Bellevue, serving up salads, pastries, and more. Just because these eateries are a little more casual doesn’t make them any less scrumptious or less of a city of Seattle and Bellevue favorite.
