Reviews Summary

Dough Zone is highly praised for its authentic and delicious Chinese comfort food, especially its signature soup dumplings and pan-fried buns. Diners appreciate the fast service and reasonable prices, making it a popular choice. However, some reviews mention that the spicy dishes might not be as fiery as expected, and occasional issues with saltiness or sauce variety have been noted.

"PLEASE GO HERE!!! This place was the best food we’ve had in the city. Wait at 6:40ish was less than 10 minutes despite the place being super busy. You mark what you want on the slip of paper that staff then comes and checks over with you for allergens. We were slightly worried we had ordered too much, but the portions were sized perfectly! Not the usual American sizing where we have gotten used to way too much food for one meal. Split the scallion pancakes, Yibin noodles, veggie wontons, and chicken dumplings between two. WOW. Everything was incredible, but a special shoutout to the noodles for the incredible flavors in the sauce. We quite literally used the leftover sauce for our other foods. The wontons and dumplings were so juicy as well! Fun to have pancakes that were flakier than most. Insane plating and overall time. Wow. Want to go back already."

"We tried several dishes at Dough Zone, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The Sweet & Sour Cucumber was hands down my favorite—crunchy, fresh, and the perfect way to start the meal. The Vegetable Potstickers were okay, not the standout of the evening but still decent. The Pan Fried Pork Buns were perfectly steamed and had a great balance of flavor. I also loved the Green Onion Pancake—crispy, flaky, and delicious.

We ended our dinner with the Dan Dan Noodles, which were absolutely perfect—warm, comforting, and flavorful, tying the whole experience together beautifully.

Despite the restaurant being jam-packed due to an event at the convention center, the food was impressively fresh and flavorful. The service was fast, the staff was polite and attentive, and the prices were super reasonable. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Highly recommended!"

"The food was delicious. We ordered more than in the pictures. The sweet and sour cucumber was very refreshing and potstickers had a unique touch of crispiness (missed pictures). The soup dumplings are a must have. I must admit the wait was longer but it was worth it. Make sure you sign up for dine in before waiting in the queue outside."

Best Lunch Spots in Downtown Seattle: Where to Eat Lunch

815 Pine St Just blocks away from (and a local alternative to) famed international dumpling purveyor Din Tai Fung, DZ's sixth Seattle area location JUST opened in the old Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar space, and is serving largely the same menu that has enchanted diners at their other locations: Xiao long bao (aka soup dumplings), their signature Q-bao (which is basically pork wrapped in fluffy dough) and, since this is lunch we're talking about, a spicy beef sandwich on a fresh steamed bun.

The Best Chinese Restaurants In Seattle - Seattle

There are more than a few restaurants in Seattle that serve a wide variety of dumplings, and Dough Zone is our favorite by a hair. They run a speedy operation, and the large windows make people-watching a breeze. A meal here is especially excellent after a blustery morning walking around the Chinatown-International District, because nothing warms us up much better than steamy sesame dan dan noodles, pork q-bao, chicken wontons in hot and sour broth, and potstickers with a brittle cornstarch skirt.

The 10 Best New Restaurants In and Around Seattle

After the insanely popular Chinese Din Tai Fung outposts opened in Bellevue and University Village, it didn’t take long for local foodies to become xiao long bao (xlb, or soup dumplings) know-it-alls, weighing in on the pinching technique of the dumpling makers, on whether the dumpling skin was thin enough or had the right amount of sag. If these matters are of urgent importance to you, too, reader, I urge you to make the pilgrimage to East Bellevue’s Dough Zone, near Crossroads Mall, where the xiao long bao are small and delicate, the soup and meat inside deeply porky, the pinching…well, you tell me. Equally worth seeking out: jian buns, an absolutely crave-inducing steamed pork-filled bun with a pan-seared bottom, and slippery, fine-skinned wontons in a lightly spicy Szechuan sauce.
