What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Skillet Restaurant is a long-standing neighborhood diner praised for its generous Southern-style breakfast and lunch, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Many diners highlight the unique 'Mother Clucker' and classic comfort foods. However, some reviews mention concerns about blandness, rising prices, and inconsistent portion sizes.
"This is a consistently good locally owned restaurant. It's not fancy but the food is good and the service is great. Friendly staff that keep your coffee hot."
Judy Horton
"While food wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t say it was exceptional. The sausage gravy was bland. The prices were high for us fixed income folks and then they are adding an “egg surcharge on top! We skipped eggs on our visit. Food is cooked to order so there was a wait. Get there early on Sunday to get a seat!"
Gina Norris
"This is one of my favorite consistent spots for weekend breakfast food. The owner, the waitstaff and cooks are phenomenal. It’s a great environment. You will have to wait to be seated, you will have to wait about 10mins for your food but it will be spot on when it arrives. Get a cup of coffee and enjoy ya food and conversation. All walks of life frequent this place. I can wait til this spot expands and gets the space next door to it"

Exploring Spartanburg, South Carolina
Wake up and slip into a booth at the Skillet, a neighborhood breakfast institution for over seventy years. Plenty of locals come in and out of this charming greasy spoon for crispy chicken and biscuits, fluffy silver dollar pancakes, and bowls of creamy grits, but the top-notch hospitality is a consistent draw for my Spartanburg friends. If you’re looking for a lighter breakfast, check out Pharmacy Coffee, an extension of Little River Roasting, for the best avocado toast in town.
