Reviews Summary

Cap's On the Water is highly praised for its breathtaking sunset views and fresh local seafood, particularly its oysters. Diners love the lively atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating options, as well as the attentive service. However, some visitors have experienced very long waits, especially on weekends, and a few have noted inconsistent service quality and dishes that didn't meet expectations for the price.

"We visited Caps on the Water to celebrate our son’s birthday, and it was such a memorable experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the ambience was just perfect, peaceful, scenic, and relaxing. The service stood out as well; the staff were welcoming and attentive, making our celebration feel special.

They offer only valet parking, which was smooth and convenient. After our meal, we spent some time on the pier and the little beach like area by the water, which added a beautiful, serene touch to our evening.

Highly recommend Caps on the Water for anyone looking for great food, wonderful service, and a perfect waterfront setting."

"Choosing to come here on a weekend, probably was not the smartest decision on my end. I’m sure that played into the experience that we had. We sat in line Just waiting to go into the parking lot for about 30 minutes. Thankfully we were seated right away once we got inside. It was a cloudy night, so we didn’t care if we were inside or outside. The service was absolutely horrendous. I think we would’ve had a better experience and enjoyed ourselves more if we had had a better server. She had two really big tables, so us as a table of two were kind of forgotten about. She took about 20 minutes to come over just to introduce herself and give us water. It took so long that the hostess actually came back over to us to see if we had been waited on. And then another 30 minutes to come and take our orders. We would’ve loved to stay longer and order more courses. But it was actually got to the point where it was painful waiting for her to come over to the table. The food was alright, but it was nothing special. The atmosphere seems to be where this place really shines."

Kristen

"The vibe, the service, the atmosphere was an amazing experience. We went for dinner and the experience starts with the complimentary valet service. We’d already joined the waitlist on our way there so once we got there we only had to wait about 10 minutes. For a Saturday night it wasn’t bad. The view of the sunset was everything. The restaurant is both inside and outside. The inside is covered but it was still open to the outside where you get the best of both worlds. The food was great. The fish bites were A1! They were the fresh catch of the day which was Triple Tail. I also had the seafood platter which gave a good portion for the price. The lobster ravioli was pretty good but be aware that you only get like 4 ravioli’s in the order. Overall, I loved the restaurant and I will be back."

Seafood Restaurants Near Vilano Beach, Florida

A short five-minute drive from Vilano Beach, Cap’s on the Water has a large outdoor waterfront dining area that provides views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The outdoor dining area includes an oyster bar resembling a beach shack that offers raw, steamed or baked oysters with a variety of other seafood selections. Many appetizer, soup, salad and entree selections, like the fried seafood combo, include fresh local seafood, but Cap’s also offers a variety of steak, chicken and pasta dishes.

30 Fun Things to Do in St. Augustine – This Post has All You Need to Know!

We give a hearty thumbs-up to Cap’s on the Waterin Vilano Beach, which has both a phenomenal menu and extraordinary sunset views from the restaurant’s deck along the Intracoastal Waterway. Cap’s doesn’t take reservations, so the wait is often long, but it’s definitely worth it — Lucky for us, we opted to go late, about 30 minutes before closing, and were seated immediately. The menu is large and my family had trouble narrowing down our options, finally choosing several small plates to share.

Best of Saint Augustine: Unique Things to Do, Eat, Explore

We’ve broken down the best things to do in Saint Augustine by area, meaning downtown, Saint Augustine Beach, Butler Beach and then north of the city and into Ponte Vedra. Enjoy our recommendations, and know that if you want to do everything we talk about here, it’s going to take you at least four days. Saint Augustine is our favorite city in the USA and if anything we note here seems iffy, send us a note and we’ll help you figure out your itinerary just a bit better.

8 Great Soups in St. Augustine, FL

We don’t pretend to be New Orleans here in St. Augustine, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy a good roux. And that’s exactly how the gumbo at Cap’s is started…with a slow roasted flour and butter that gives the finished dish a rich and complex flavor. Full of seafood, and served with a side of cornbread–this is a dish of yumminess that will fill you up, but still leave room for dessert (and isn’t that what we all like about soup meals, anyway?) 4325 Myrtle Street.

The old trees that literally come through the deck are adorned with big 'ol lanterns giving the deck a romantic vibe.
