Reviews Summary

Columbia Restaurant is celebrated for its historic ambiance, delicious Spanish and Cuban cuisine, and its iconic 1905 Salad prepared tableside. While many rave about the flavorful dishes and attentive service, some reviews mention occasional overcooked seafood in the paella or inconsistent service, particularly during busy periods or holidays.

"The Columbia Restaurant is a must-stop whenever I’m in Florida.

As usual, I kicked off the meal with their signature 1905 Salad, prepared tableside—fresh, flavorful, and always a highlight. I also tried the Empanadas de Picadillo for the first time, and they were excellent—crisp, savory, and perfectly seasoned.

To drink, I had a freshly made mojito (pro tip: if you're ordering several, go for the pitcher—it’s made tableside). I ordered four for the table, but unfortunately, they arrived pre-mixed. Still refreshing, just not quite the same experience.

For the main course, I shared the Paella a la Valenciana. It was a generous portion and quite tasty overall, but the chicken, mussels, and clams were slightly overcooked and a bit tough. That said, the flavor was there. Our dining companions had the stuffed shrimp and a mahi-mahi dish—both were very pleased with their meals.

To top things off, we were served a complimentary flan for dessert—my first time trying it, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

Despite the few minor critiques, The Columbia remains one of my favorite places to visit. The atmosphere, history, and overall dining experience are consistently memorable."

Gregory Purchase

"Wonderful restaurant! Went with family, I started with a 1905 Martini (dirty) which was delicious. We each got our own mini loaf of crusty bread which was piping hot when it arrived and tasted so fresh. I asked our server Danica for a recommendation for a dry wine to pair with dinner and it came in the cutest little bottle and was great. For my main dish I had the paella which was a heaping portion and very flavorful. Would highly recommend."

Riley Love

"The food was amazing. Sheila our server was so professional & a hard worker. There was no wait & the food came out fresh. Thank you for giving my family & I a wonderful experience Sheila. You definitely have to visit this gorgeous oasis if you haven’t made the time already."

We loved visiting the original Columbia Restaurant location in Ybor City when we went to Tampa so much we knew this sister property in St. Augustine was a must on our itinerary. Located on St. George Street right in the heart of the historic district and serving up the same delicious Spanish-Cuban cuisine, the Columbia here doesn’t disappoint. I recommend making reservations ahead of time or hitting the eatery for an early lunch as the place gets packed, especially at dinner.
