Reviews Summary

MOGO Korean Fusion Tacos is lauded for its innovative and delicious Korean-Mexican fusion dishes, with many highlighting the creative tacos and flavorful kimchi fried rice. While the food often receives high praise for its taste and quality, some diners have noted issues with soggy breading and inconsistencies in service speed and staff demeanor, particularly during busy periods.

"Everything is true! Delicious food, we had Kimchi rice, chicken tacos and beef tacos! good atmosphere and really nice team members that give you suggestions and explain to you the menu. Prices are in between 15 - 20$ per person, they have jarritos, which I found cool! It makes this fusion concept more appealing. The only thing that I disliked was the sticky floor on the booth section, it gave me dirty place vibes, but the bathrooms were clean and that’s a plus."

Nicole Alejandra Castillo Cobeña

"It’s a great option if you need food late on Fridays or Saturdays. First off the Korean fried wings were solid. Ended up getting the buffalo kimchi and the soy ginger. The tacos were a miss, we ordered the chicken and the shrimp, the chicken was dry and didn’t have depth in terms of the flavor and the shrimp was battered and fried but the breading was soggy and not at all crispy. It was disappointing because this was a highly rated spot."

Abhilash Yerra

"The food was excellent, exceeded expectations. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Definitely will be visiting this place again. Absolutely recommending to everyone!"

The Best NYC-Area Beach Town Is in New Jersey

Lunch should be Korean fusion tacos at MOGO on the boardwalk; for happy hour, go to the Asbury Hotel’s rooftop bar, Salvation, where you can sip cocktails while watching the sun set over town. For dinner, plan to put your name in at the always-packed Talula’s, then grab a drink around the corner at Asbury Park Distilling Co. while you wait for a table. If Talula’s Neapolitan-style pizzas don’t do you in, swing by the Stone Pony or Wonder Bar for some live music on your way back to the hotel.

A boardwalk sensation, there’s nothing like a Korean fusion taco at the end of a long beach day in Asbury Park. Serving up a creative concoction of traditional flour tacos with one-of-a-kind ingredients, such as tangy daikon radish, soy-sesame slaw, and kimchi fried rice (plus, your choice of tofu or meat), MOGO is well-known for its long lines of hungry beachgoers but even more famous for its signature sticker plastered all over town.

Your Next Weekend Trip from NYC Should Be to Asbury Park, New Jersey

One of our personal favorites is MOGO Korean Fusion tacos, which you can find on the boardwalk between Asbury Avenue and 1st Avenue. The small stand’s menu is simple: Customers pick from six different taco types (beef bulgogi and shrimp are musts), with prices ranging from $4-5 per taco. Park yourself at a bench to snack, then hit the shops.

Locals also swear by Talula’s for chewy Neopolitan-style pizzas and a solid wine collection; Reyla for modern Mediterranean and special cocktails; Mogo for lunchtime Korean-fusion tacos; and Nettie’s House of Spaghetti, a throwback Italian spot in Tinton Falls with an Art Deco vibe and sumptuous pasta dishes. Finally, for a special night out or in, consider Heirloom Kitchen in nearby Old Bridge: The James Beard-nominated chef, David Viana, offers a standout four-course prix-fixe seasonal menu; even his family-style takeout is gorgeously plated. Word to the wise: Asbury stays busy well into winter months … which means you’ll want to consider reservations at many spots.

While its stand on Asbury Park’s boardwalk offers only tacos, the brick-and-mortar shop—located a few minutes up Cookman Avenue—also offers salads, burritos, and bowls, as well as “dinner & a movie night” on Wednesdays. Order the dubu—spicy-soy glazed fried tofu with soy-sesame slaw—however you want it served, with a side of vegetable fried rice.
