I like to end my evenings with a house-made cider at Lake Drum Brewing, where the vibe is mellow hippie meets college bar.

Having won Best Farm to Table Restaurant in the Finger Lakes, Kindred Fare specializes in cooking that utilizes local meat and produce. In the spirit of supporting local we started with Bubbly Candeo from Lakewood Vineyards before having a couple of delicious cocktails.

Kindred Fare (kindredfare.com) is a busy farm-to-table restaurant on the outskirts of Geneva. It’s a pretty spot with woods and a bustling bar, and fresh food that’s well prepared. Used to paying $18 for a glass of wine in Manhattan, we were often happily surprised that the wines were so reasonably priced.

Designed to be warm and engaging, Kindred Fare nails it in every aspect. Check out the wonderful plates to share – like spaghetti squash gratin or poutine – or off-road it with your own heap of fried chicken. Don’t worry, vegans – there’s an entire menu just for you that goes way beyond portobello burgers.

In Geneva, stop by Red Dove Tavern for hearty pub fare and great beer or Kindred Fare for farmhouse-inspired cooking. For an intimate and interactive tasting menu experience that is not at all stuffy, book a seat at F.L.X. Table, one of the best meals you’ll have in the Finger Lakes.

Kindred Fare - Very standard but solid 2010’s American restaurant with things like exposed Edison bulbs and reclaimed wood. Will book up quickly, but it’s a nice place to sit at the bar and grab a cocktail and dinner.
