Reviews Summary

Doc Taylor's is a beloved brunch spot known for its generous portions and classic Southern comfort food, served in a charming, historic cottage. Diners praise the friendly and attentive service, as well as the affordable brunch cocktails. However, some visitors have experienced long wait times and found issues with food quality, such as cold grits or undercooked bacon.

"We stopped here for some breakfast before our day out in VB. We were very lucky enough to get to sit at the bar. They were very busy! I really enjoyed watching all the cooks in the kitchen. The chocolate chip pancakes were so good!!! My bf had the French toast, and he said it was really good too! I highly recommend stopping by here! They have amazing food and service!"

Beth Rineholt

"Finding Doc Taylor’s wasn’t the easiest—tucked away and a little tricky to spot—but once we stumbled across the parking lot and saw the “Parking for Doc Taylor's” we found our way. Once we stepped inside, it was worth it.

Our server, Heidi, was excellent—friendly, full of menu knowledge, attentive, and kept things moving with a smile. The coffee came out dark and strong (exactly how it should be), and the $3.50 breakfast cocktails are an absolute steal. The Screwdriver was a great way to start a day of sightseeing.

I went with the biscuits & gravy. The portion was huge. Heidi shared the gravy isn't just homemade, it's made fresh to order. It was thick enough to stick to the fork, but not firm or clumpy. I would’ve loved just a bit more seasoning. A side of bacon sealed the deal—crispy, salty perfection. The eggs Benedict were ooey gooey perfection, as well!

The vibe is cozy, with a local, off-the-beaten-path feel. Doc Taylor’s is the kind of place you’re glad you tracked down."

"What a great place for breakfast. Steak and eggs ,5 stars, and were cooked the way requested. Weird. But awesome. I recommend the biscuits. They didn't fall apart ,but they warm and with the whipped butter made a great addition for those who love carbs. And you cant beat the 3.50 drinks. Hands down a great morning breakfast or brunch place before hitting the beachbor starting the day. Cheers."

This breakfast and lunch joint used to house an old doctor’s office, but instead of pharmaceutical pamphlets or jars of mystery candy, you’ll now find people enjoying pancakes, biscuits topped with gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. Go for the Doc Taylor, which comes with a fried egg, bacon, cheese, and grilled parmesan tomatoes on an onion roll and packs a ton of savoriness in each bite. The interior dining space has that old-town feel you only get from eating in someone’s living room, and the patio seating is great for enjoying some sunshine and the ocean breeze.

Virginia Beach Is Doing Brunch, and It’s Awesome. Here’s Proof.

You’ll find Doc Taylor’s right on the oceanfront, a former beach cottage that’s been transformed into a homey brunch restaurant. Once actually a doctor’s home, it now serves dishes named after locals — local doctors, fittingly — or following other medical themes (i.e., the Stroke, The Heart Attack, etc). It’s a bit of a strange choice, sure, but once you’re there, you’ll see how it definitely works (and how it’s definitely memorable).
