Originally developed by famous Maui Chef Simeon Sheldon, Lineage is not only one of my favorite restaurants because of the originality and creativity of the menu, but also because my wife and I had our first date there!. First dates aside, Lineage embraces the Polynesian urge to explore and they explore the limits of Asian fusion cuisine with dishes like Aji Tamago, which is 6 minute ramen eggs, dashi soy marinade, truffle mushroom duxelles, potato whip, furikake, and chives. The Wagyu Kalbi Ribs are insanely good and so are the Cantonese Lobster Noodles.

Most people come here for the Korean fried chicken, but the crispy shrimp and scallop toast, honey garlic shrimp, and garlic Szechuan noodles are standouts too. For drinks, the menu has a solid tea and sake selection, plus inventive cocktails.

Tin Roof (Kahului) and Lineage (Wailea): Celebrity chef Sheldon Simeon won the hearts of Top Chef fans not once, but twice. Now he’s done the same for Maui diners. He and his wife, Janice, first opened Tin Roof, a humble to-go lunch spot in an industrial Kahului strip mall, with a fun, Filipino-inspired menu (including an Instagram-worthy chocolate bibingka cupcake).

In the theme of “Eat, Drink and Talk Story,” this restaurant revolves around family-style dining and foods that are derived from the cultures of Hawaii’s people. In terms of culinary aptitude, the flavors, plating, and presentation at Lineage are all top-notch. Be prepared to order multiple dishes at once to share with the whole table.

Chef Simeon says that most of the dishes at Lineage were inspired by recipes he learned from his Filipino parents and grandparents. Growing up near Hilo, Simeon would often have to hunt and fish to bring back the meats necessary for family meals. During this time, Simeon learned about many Filipino recipes featured on Lineage's menu.

The inspiration for LINEAGE came from family get-togethers that celebrated the diversity of natural ingredients and Maui cuisine. Our Chef Emmanuel Eng takes these creative traditions and further develops them with his innovative Asian-American dishes. Emmanuel Eng, or “Eman” to those close to him, was born in Portland, Oregon.

You might recognize Chef Sheldon as a finalist on the show Top Chef, and after trying his food and drinks you can see why he made to the finals!. His theme is eat, drink, and talk story - which is what we did at Lineage!. DRINKS: The Mai'a Tai is different from most Mai Tais but has a delicious spin to the tiki classic.

While Lineage‘s location inside an upscale outdoor mall might initially leave some views to be desired, the Filipino-Hawaiian dim sum at this Diner’s Choice favorite is worth gathering for. We love sitting at the cozy, sunken outdoor tables at night. Or, curl up inside the minimalist-yet-earthy stained wood interior.

This goes to a new restaurant in Wailea we just discovered on this trip, Lineage. Award winning chef Sheldon Simeon built the foundation and recently passed the reins to chef Mijin Toride. The sole reason why this trip was even planned: It’s time for dinner at Sheldon Simeon’s Lineage Maui. The restaurant has been a while in the making and finally found a home among luxury brand names. While neither restaurant nor food aims to be fancy, it has cache and makes us wish it were on Oahu.

In 2018, Chef Sheldon Simeon of Tin Roof opened the award-winning Lineage Maui. Though Simeon has since left, the restaurant continually garners great reviews from guests with its inspired dishes. Local ingredients fuel the menu, including seasonal vegetables and pork from Maui's Lopes Farm.

Everyone was so excited when they first opened in 2018 because the Wailea area is known mostly for the fancy (definitely gorgeous) hotels. There are so many great dishes on the menu and the portions are generous. We like to come with friends and share a lot.

The menu at Lineage changes regularly, but here are some dishes I’ve eaten that are well-deserving of praise:. – A consistent menu item and some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the garlic jalapeno finadene preparation.

Simeon has since gone on and started his two of his own restaurants: Tin Roof and Lineage. After Star Noodle, he landed at Migrant in the Marriott Wailea for 2 1/2 years. We dined at Migrant and did not find it as compelling as Star Noodle.

Lineage provided me with a dining experience I will never forget!. I absolutely love Asian fusion spots with diverse menus, and this one did not disappoint. Our waiter was wonderful, taking the time to explain the menu in such great detail.

Lineage made our list of the hottest new restaurants in America for 2020. It’s in part due to the impressive family-style feast they offer. However, you’ll also find that the environment feels a bit elevated and upscale.
