What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
FORC Restaurant is celebrated for its exceptional farm-to-table American cuisine with a Hawaiian twist. Diners rave about the flavorful dishes, creative cocktails, and outstanding service that makes them feel like regulars. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, occasional mentions of specific dishes being less spectacular than others are noted.
"We had a great time for Happy Hour with some friends we met. Our server Hannah was very nice, answered all my questions about drinks and food. She was busy behind the bar making up drinks for the evenings popular drinks. In the bar area is a television where you can catch a ballgame and enjoy Happy Hour that begins at 3:00pm. Dinner hour begins at 4:30 and can be served in their dining rooms which are very charming. From the Happy Hour menu I got soup of the day - portugués bean soup pretty interesting and good, a tomato base soup, parmesan fries and the sandwich. All were delicious. We would love to make it back for dinner!!"

"My favorite meal on the big island! The Korean Braised Beef Rib was delicious. And everyone in our party loved what they got, so you can't go wrong."

"Fantastic service, very good at accommodating preferences! The waitstaff are very attentive and friendly! The chef made me a goat cheese grilled cheese when I mentioned that I was pescatarian (after ordering the oysters that are cooked with sausage) and boy oh boy was it good! I loved the oysters and would have eaten more if sausage wasn’t involved ! 10/10 would recommend, if you’re in Waimea or even just passing through, go here !!! I don’t remember the name of the people who served me, but they were both great! Give them raises (love- the one with purple hair and piercings, y’all are great!!!!)"

Restaurants in Waimea
Their name stands for "Farmer, Ocean, Rancher, Cook" but this little gem is a great example of the magic that happens when a famous resort chef creates his own vibe and brand. Chef Allen Hess blends the unique nuances of Hawaii Regional Cuisine with flavors from the ocean and land and throws in a dash of comfort food. The plates are inventive: the goat tacos feature Korean braised goat, daikon apple salsa, and mu shu pancake, while the herb-braised lamb leg is cooked in Vinho Verde and simmered with basil, garlic, and shiso.
Hawaii Island's Foodie Destination: A Food Tour Through Waimea
Veteran chef and artisan bacon purveyor Allen Hess named his latest restaurant FORC, which stands for “Farmer Ocean Rancher Cook,” reflecting his passion for local ingredients. Hess has also curated an exceptional wine list; you can even reserve some bottles ahead. The culinary menu is meant to appeal to both locals and visitors, and judging by the crowds at happy hour (first-come, first-served) and reservation-only dinners, it’s hitting the mark.
