Reviews Summary

Moa Kitchen is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh and flavorful Japanese cuisine, particularly its ramen, sushi, and yakitori. Diners praise the thoughtful preparation and the warm, aloha spirit of the staff, making it a memorable dining experience. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some have noted that the service can sometimes feel understaffed, and one reviewer mentioned feeling uncomfortable as a tourist.

"Its refreshing when you can find amazing eats in a small town. I loved the ramen as it had a great fusion of ingredients less common. The sushi was extremely fresh and light. I’ve never tried brown rice with sushi but was pleased. The environment was cool and casual. Two thumbs up!"

Harold Pramekamol

"Moa Kitchen is hands down the best restaurant on the Big Island! Every dish is fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and bursting with flavor—all served with the warmth and care that embodies true aloha. The love and attention to detail shine through in every bite, making for an unforgettable dining experience. If aloha had a taste, it would taste like this. Pure magic!"

Jon Ramer

"This place is A MUST stop if you're near by. The food is absolutely delicious, we ordered the cold pupu sashimi crudo plate and it was divine. The fish was fresh and the yuzu seasoning was fantastic.

The quality of the fresh fish was so worth it. And the atmosphere and staff were beyond amazing. When we come back to big island we will definitely be back."

Just like an authentic Japanese izakaya (bar/restaurant), this hip little place serves yakatori (skewered chicken) grilled on a binchotan (grill) that the restaurant owners imported from Japan. Ramen is served with a variety of broths—regular shoyu, spicy, and vegetarian. Their nouko base enhances every serving with creamy undertones.
