What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners generally praise Red Monkey Downtown for its delicious food, particularly burgers and fries, and its lively sports bar atmosphere. While many enjoy the creative cocktails and extensive beer selection, some reviews note that service can be slow during busy periods and that certain dishes can be heavy-handed with ingredients like truffle oil.
"I was told this was a must do in Walla Walla, and now I know why. Great place! It's like a 100 year old tavern and a casual dining place had a baby. Chill atmosphere with a kinda rustic vibe. The food is delicious. I had the Smokey T. The fries are amazing! (And quite possibly addictive! 😁). The bartender Aspen was awesome and every bit as sweet as the Nectar of the God's IPA she recommended. Do yourself a favor and try this place if you are in Walla Walla. I noticed after I posted that it says I said $10-20 a person. Double checked, I definitely said $20-30. Just trying to be accurate."

"Stopped in at Red Monkey Downtown Grill during a trip through Walla Walla and had a great overall experience. The vibe is laid-back but clean, and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
The food was solid—well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. That said, if you’re coming in looking for bold spice or heat, you might want to ask for extra sauce or seasoning on the side. Dishes could use a bit more kick to match the energetic feel of the space.
One suggestion for the kitchen: the salads could be more thoughtfully composed. The ratio of greens to dressing was a bit off—plenty of dressing, but not quite enough toppings or variety in the mix to balance it out.
Still, Red Monkey gets it right where it counts: quality ingredients, decent portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. Worth the stop, especially if you’re exploring downtown Walla Walla. Would return."

"Stopped in with some work colleagues for lunch and found the place to be very enjoyable. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly. The young lady taking our orders did a great job keeping track of everything and ensuring we were all satisfied. The food was delicious. Not a single person in our group had a negative thing to say about their dish! The interior is well decorated and provides a welcoming feeling. There is also some neat swag to purchase if you want to remember your visit (I did)!"

When it comes to the Mean Veggie Wrap ($10.50) at Red Monkey, all I have to say is YUM. You wouldn’t think right off the bat that this’d be so filling, but this monster of a wrap is sure to keep you satisfied. The wrap boasts mixed greens, pepperoncinis, tomatoes, olives, sprouts, avocados and mushrooms served with your choice of dressing on the side.
