What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Amazonia/Causa's unique Peruvian culinary journey, exceptional cocktails, and immersive jungle-like ambiance. Many praise the creative dishes bursting with flavor and the attentive service, with some considering it a memorable, standout dining experience. However, a few reviews mention issues with noise levels, inconsistent service on occasion, and pricing that some find to be on the higher side.
"This is an exotic and unique place that specializes in Peruvian food. It's relaxing and also casual/elegant. The staff is super nice and truly attentive. The Chicha and Pineapple aji amarillo were awesome. The Concha a la parmasama was chewy, tangy, flavorful, and smoky; the Papas Huancaina was creamy, cheesy, and with traditional flavor. The Anticucho, with the spicy chicken, mouthwatering filet mignon, chewy mushrooms, salmon, and carrots, was a must-try. The ceviche was incredible – juicy and with crunchy cancha. The Tiradito was a flavor explosion with that huacatay oil. The Lomo saltado was savory and bursting with flavor. The chaufa had sweet plantain and chewy meat, and the pulpo was so tender. The Pataschka was peppery, a little spicy, and stew-like with tomatoes. For dessert, we got the chazuta, which was creamy and tropical and was not unlike ice cream, and we also got the chocolucuma that had a honey filling kind of caramel–so smooth and chocolatey. Seriously, this restaurant is five stars – 100%!"

"Yeah I'm definitely putting a pin on this place because it is absolutely worth coming back to. Every dish is perfectly cooked and balanced in so much flavor. Every bite is divine. The meats are all perfectly cooked to a level of tenderness that requires no knife. We were seated outside and the music is probably a touch too loud, but the food made it worth dealing with the noise. Make a reservation and come over. If price isn't an issue, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Spoil yourself once in a while =)"

"Service is an afterthought here and a lot of improvements are needed. It's so dark in the evening that guests use their phone flashlights. I get the intimate setting vibe but one should be able to see whoever is seated across from them and maybe the venue. Tables are so tightly set together that a staff member's jacket was brushing against our dish as he had to wedge himself between two tables to clear the one next to us. Also please do not swiftly clear off a plate with food on it before asking your guests if they're done with it. That's the minimum I expect from a place with an automatic 20% service charge. In the reservation, I mentioned that we were there to celebrate my friend's birthday. There was no candle on the dessert or any verbal acknowledgement of that. Another missed opportunity to make guests feel welcome. We also had to remind our waiter about the dessert because he had the receipt ready. The appetizers were decent but the mains were meh. The yucca fries were bland and the fried fish had no flavor. Thankfully there's better Peruvian in this city."
