Reviews Summary

Call Your Mother Deli is lauded for its delicious and substantial bagel sandwiches, with many reviewers comparing them favorably to NYC standards. The "Jew-ish" deli concept offers creative flavor combinations that delight diners. While the atmosphere is often described as fun and visually appealing, some acknowledge that waits can be long, though generally considered worthwhile.

"If you're looking for a great spot to grab a coffee, bagel sandwich, or pastries, Call Your Mother is the place to be! The staff is quick and efficient, ensuring you're in and out in no time. The location is connected to a hotel, so there's plenty of space to sit down and enjoy your breakfast or lunch. While I don't frequent this specific location often, I love that they have the same menu options at their other spots. My go-to is always the bacon Sun City, which never disappoints. Prices are reasonable too. Highly recommend checking it out!"

"Stumbled upon this place during a walk in DC, and I'm really glad we stopped in. The wait was a bit long, but I promise it's worth it. The bagels are genuinely NYC-style, and the place is charming and cozy. It shares a seating area and lobby with the nearby hotel and offers plenty of space to relax and enjoy your morning bagel and latte. Highly recommend!"

Parker Powers

"Loved the outdoor seating. Had a problem with 1 bagel sandwich, which they replaced soon. Other than that, the food was great, Americano coffee was great, service was pretty decent. I think the quality & taste of the bagel was much better than the ones we had at 2 famous NY city bagel shops this year."

The Best Places to Eat in Washington D.C.

Park View’s Call Your Mother leans on the “ish” in “Jew-ish Deli” by adding creative twists to their wood-fired bagels. Whether you opt for savory like “The Amar’e,” a middle eastern-spiced za’atar bagel with candied salmon cream cheese, crispy shallots, radish, and cucumbers, or sweet like “The Rashida,” a sesame bagel with apple, honey, and bacon peanut butter spread, Call Your Mother’s playful, carb-centric menu will satiate. While my gluten-free diet only allowed me to sample spoonfuls of their melt-in-your-mouth spreads and schmears, the constant line out the door confirms the food is geshmak.

Best Sandwiches in DC: Good Places for Quick Lunch, Picnics & More

Bethesda, Capitol Hill, Georgetown, Park View This Jewish deli originally drew crowds to its Park View location, but they’ve since opened three more spots where you can get bagel breakfast sandwiches. You can keep it simple with a bacon, egg, and cheese; cream cheese and veggies; or some whitefish salad piled on a bagel of your choice. Or opt for a lunchtime option like the cheesesteak-style sandwiches or pastrami piled on challah sub rolls.

The Best Coffee in Washington, D.C. Keeps Getting Better

Approaching this joyful (and much talked-about) Georgia Avenue corner bagel shop/deli, I had zero expectations for the coffee, even though I was certainly going to try some; making my way through the line, which spilled out the door upon arrival but moved quite quickly, I saw people walking away with cappuccinos in ceramic diner mugs and I figured, why not — I ordered one to stay, while I waited for my bacon egg and cheese bagel, as well as a drip coffee to go. This turned out to be my first encounter with Lost Sock Roasters, easily the buzziest of the local roasters that have popped up in very recent times. Specifically for Call Your Mother, they custom roast a "Just Coffee" blend, designed to be a modern tribute to the diner and bodega coffee of olden times.
