An exquisite evening at Fiola DC — where each course felt like a love letter to Italian fine dining. We indulged in the 9-course tasting menu, and every dish was a revelation. Thoughtfully paced, masterfully executed, and bursting with refined flavor — a true culinary symphony. From the first bite to the final course, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Reviews Summary

Fiola is celebrated for its innovative Italian cuisine, impeccable service, and elegant ambiance, offering a truly memorable fine dining experience. While many rave about the tasting menus and creative dishes, some diners have noted issues with dietary accommodation. Overall, it's considered a top-tier destination for special occasions.

"Wonderful service and fantastic food.

This is one of the best Michelin experiences I’ve had in DC. It brings innovation to Italian food in ways I’ve never seen. The margherita risotto and deconstructed cannolis were fantastic and my favorites.

Wouldn’t hesitate to go back! They also helped celebrate my partner’s birthday and service was professional and easy to talk to."

"From the moment I walked in, I felt warmly welcomed and happy in such an elegant environment. We did the 9-course tasting menu and we were so full. Now I want to fly to Sicily.

The most creative dishes Ive tried in DC. The chef played with different food and flavors. My favorite one is the duck ravioli. The desserts are exquisitely delicious and pretty.

An unforgettable experience."

Sugarfree “Thaitea”

"We are visiting DC this weekend for the cherry blossom and reserved at Fiola in advance. When we made the reservation on Resy, we put in the dietary allergies & restriction in advance (e.g. strong smelled cheese such as goat or blue cheese) as I am seriously disgusted by their smell/flavor.

However after we were seated, the waitress came and asked if we had any food restrictions as if what we shared before was neglected at all... Fine, I shared the restrictions again. Then guess what - in the very first course, 2 of the small bites had exactly the strong smelled cheese that I literally just mentioned. I had to spit out the food into the plate, and the smell lingered in my mouth and ruined my appetite for quite a while. I informed the waitress of the situation, and she merely took the dishes away and asked the chef to not use the cheese going forward - without making any remediation to the 2 dishes that I couldn't eat.

This was truly an unpleasant experience. I would expect more for a Michelin star restaurant in terms of adjusting to customer's food restrictions.

Besides that, the other dishes were mediocre at best."

18 best Italian restaurants in Washington, D.C.

When chef Fabio Trabocchi opened Fiola in 2011, he quickly established his new trattoria as the place to go in Washington for exquisite, sumptuous Italian. Pastas, naturally, are the stars of the menu, especially the tender pappardelle with bolognese ragu. But seafood plays a strong supporting role, and the bar offers a serious cocktail menu, including six different variations on the negroni.

Fiola – DC is his flagship, and takes a back seat to no Italian, and features menus both traditional “La Tradizione” ($225) and more inventive Il Viaggio (“The Journey” $285). During the week (Tuesdays-Wednesday-Thursday), you can order a la carte and be assured that whatever appears (from the Pappa al Pomodoro to the mixed seafood pasta to the langoustine with stracciatella and limone) will compete with the best version you have ever had, both visually and in the mouth. The wine list is a dream (and full of trophy bottles, natch), and the waiters all look as good as the food.
