Back on “the island,” in addition to the stalwarts like Swifty’s (in The Colony), Lola 41 at the White Elephant, and HMF at the Breakers, there’s a big late-night (meaning it goes at least until past 11pm) scene at Italian restaurant Cucina Dell’Arte, 257 Royal Poinciana Way (tel. 561/655-0770), catering to a motley mixture of young and old locals who moved here from the now defunct Worth Avenue mainstay Ta’boo. Then there’s Le Bar a Vin, 380 S. County Rd. (tel. 561/490-1456), which prides itself on being the island’s only wine bar, where locals come and sip vintages almost as, um, aged as them, with over 45 wines and champagnes by the glass, as well as charcuterie, cigars, and a white piano as shiny as the shoes on some of the dapper dapplers.

The restaurant of The White Elephant, Lola 41 was jumping throughout the day with guests indulging in creations from executive chef Brian Bottge. We made it there for the breakfast (the buttermilk pancakes and brioche French test…chef’s kiss!) but the bar and most importantly, the eclectic dinner menu, is what makes the spot so popular. Try out fresh takes on global dishes like king crab rangoon and Portuguese-style Octopus, or stay Americana with the popular Angus beef burger on an English muffin with aged cheddar and red onion compote.

Elsewhere, LoLa 41, the Midtown restaurant known for its cuisine influenced by countries on the 41st parallel, is placing a renewed emphasis on lunch. While it has served lunch since 2020, it debuted a new lunch menu in January. With about 40% new items, lunch at LoLa 41 now offers such dishes as Korean beef buns ($24) with gochujang beef, kimchi pickles, yuzu kewpie, crispy garlic and scallions; and wild mushroom fried rice ($24) with chili-mango sauce, egg, carrot, snow peas, crispy chili, scallion, lime, mint and cilantro.

Lola 41: With sister restaurants in Boston and Nantucket, my two other favorite places, I felt a bit silly about coming to Lola 41 while in Palm Beach, but I have to say, I was not disappointed!. Lola just debuted in Palm Beach in spring 2020 and is located inside the newly opened White Elephant Palm Beach (also a Nantucket staple). The restaurant has an AMAZING al fresco patio with the prettiest decor…playful pops of color that are complemented by a black and white motif!.

Flo’s Clam Shack, a popular Rhode Island eatery, replaced Bamz on U.S. 41 East in East Naples. Suga Suga Naples moved into Carole’s House Cafe 2 this season with a similar business in The Strand retail center off Immokalee Road in North Naples. Naples Coastal Kitchen relocated north along U.S. 41 from North Naples to the former Cirella’s in The Prado in Bonita Springs.

Though LoLa 41 shares an address with the White Elephant Palm Beach, the Pan-Asian restaurant is a destination on its own, with an eclectic menu of sushi and Korean beef bulgogi over noodles, as well as a bar adorned with vintage coins sourced from all over the world. Fun fact: the name is a nod to the resort’s Nantucket property.

A global bistro and sushi bar, Palm Beach’s LoLa 41 will toast to the Kentucky Derby Saturday with a tweaked-classic cocktail: a Japanese-inspired julep. The drink combines Hatozaki small-batch Japanese whiskey, lemongrass simple syrup and shiso leaves. You can watch the race at LoLa as you sip your Japanese Julep ($18).

Locally famous for its sushi dinner menu, LoLa 41 opens for breakfast at 8:00 am daily and lunch starts at 11:00 am. There's something for everyone on these menus. On the breakfast side, there's everything from mango granola berry parfait, to brioche French toast and specialty cold-pressed juices.

This new(ish) hotspot opened in the White Elephant and it’s a must-visit. I would definitely advise making your reservation in advance. Nantucket-goers will recognize Lola41 as an outpost of the similarly-named ACK spot, which serves sushi and global cuisine in a bistro-style setting.

Early next year, Palm Beach’s LoLa 41—which draws its culinary inspiration from destinations along the 41st parallel—opens in Old Naples. And Philadelphia export Estia brings the flavors and aesthetic of the Greek isles to North Naples this spring.
