Reviews Summary

The Buffalo Bar is praised for its hearty portions, delicious food, and fun, rustic western atmosphere. Diners love the unique buffalo meat options, friendly service, and the cozy ambiance, making it a popular stop after exploring Yellowstone. Some visitors note that it can get crowded, and there might be a credit card fee, but overall satisfaction is high for a casual, flavorful meal.

"EXCELLENT FOOD
My wife and I dropped by for dinner early summer 2025 - on a Thursday.
We chose the patio, and found out it is self seating. The bartender got to us immediately greeted us and got us water.
The menu offers a nice selection of foods. My wife and I chose the pot roast and the meatloaf.
For drinks we chose a lemonade, Smoked Old Fashioned and a glass of red wine.
The food was awesome! Real nice. And the cocktails were well made.
There was live music playing in the corner.
Overall a very nice experience here."

"A required wait is usually and good sign! Time to stroll around the shops while waiting for the text to say our table was ready.
The place was buzzing with activity, servers were working at pace but still cheery and friendly. Menu had so many options it was hard to choose just one dish for breakfast!
Food was delicious and the coffee kept flowing.
So good we travelled again from Hungry Horse en route to the airport for a last breakfast! Definitely a ‘worth a detour’ kind of place🥰"

"We needed a place where we could eat outside to bring along our dog. He has been along with us for the road trip the last couple of weeks. The Buffalo Barr was recommended because they have a patio where kids and pets are welcome. We kept the dog leashed, and at another point there was a dog, but it went well. The food was delicious. My spouse liked her salad, and I really loved the bean burrito. One kid had nachos and the other one had chicken. Everyone seemed to like the food.

For new parents, in the back of the patio, there is a little kids' table and some fun things to do for kids. The atmosphere was laid-back. I told our waiter we had been camping, and could we stay a little while. They let us sit at our table for 3 1/2 or four hours. I kept checking and there was always an empty table or two. But it was so lovely in the patio. They have trees that give some shade and a tall fence for privacy. It had a really good vibe. I highly recommend the Buffalo bar."

The Ultimate Guide for West Yellowstone, MT

The Buffalo: If you want a small-town Montana bar experience, check out this laidback yet surprisingly cozy bar and restaurant (and casino! There are a couple of rows of slot machines in the back) in West Yellowstone. Lots of stuffed deer heads and buffalo statues, TVs, a pool table, a central bar, and a table with comfy spinning chairs make this a fun place to get a pint of beer (several Montana breweries on tap) and bite to eat (try the country fried steak) after a long day exploring. It’s also kid-friendly for lunch and dinner; there’s not a kids menu, but you’ll find breaded chicken bites and a basket of fries on the apps menu, plus a grilled cheese or cheese quesadilla on the entree menu.

Planning a Trip to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks

If you’re camping, you can cook your own meals, but since we were flying in from Denver, we didn’t want to have to worry about transporting the stove, fuel, and cooking supplies in our backpacks. If you are doing this, however, I recommend purchasing your groceries and other essentials at the K-Mart in Jackson Hole or another nearby place before you get into the park. Expect to pay double for the same products at the shops in the parks.

Extremely busy, but it is a tourist town. Waitress was not familiar with the drink from the menu that I wanted, so I just said on the rocks to make it easy. My meal was ok, I wanted the roast dinner, but I think I ended up with the sandwich? My husband had a steak, said it was very good. They offer lots of buffalo options. It was off from menu description. It was ok for a quick meal after a long day.
