What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Anchor Inn Restaurant is a long-standing Mexican eatery offering a buffet and traditional dishes in a historic setting. Many praise the authentic flavors, particularly the tamales, and the friendly, attentive service. However, some reviews suggest inconsistency in food quality, especially with buffet items, and occasional issues with ambiance like sticky tables or uncomfortable temperatures.
"This is home...as close as I can get to salina. My husband and I come here once a year to eat and get a vat of salsa to take home. LoLA the great is the best waitress and we learned something new today.... it was another world. We love you anchor inn"
Shannon Golden
"Not their fault that we got there near closing, so the buffet was limited. Food was good. Would go again at an earlier hour. Service was great, not rushed at all."
Stephen Larkin
"Stopped here last night(Friday). Never been here before, but Mexican buffets aren't too common, so I stopped because of the novelty. The service was great and the atmosphere was fine. The most important part for me is the food. The selection was fair, but I wasn't impressed by the quality of the food. The potatoes were good as was the chocolate cake. The enchiladas were not to my liking, neither was the fish or the chicken dish. I've been to one other Mexican buffet, that was in Omaha. Wasn't impressed with that one either."

How To Spend a Day in Hutchinson, Kansas
A well-known staple for dining in Hutchinson is The Anchor Inn, a Mexican restaurant with a festive interior and a delicious menu. While I was shopping downtown, a Hutchinson resident recommended that I try the restaurant’s grapefruit margarita, a refreshing cocktail that paired well with a chimichanga dinner.

Where does one eat in Hutchinson?
So it seems Roy’s is the consensus for BBQ, and the Anchor Inn for Mexican. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a Mexican buffet, but the idea intrigues me. I like doing buffets when I travel because I can try a few different things and not have the pressure of “this is my one shot at this place”.
