Reviews Summary
Manzanar Restaurant offers a diverse menu with highly praised dishes like sushi, ceviche, and grilled meats, set in a chic ambiance with lovely outdoor seating. While many enjoy the food and atmosphere, some diners have noted that service can be slow, and the restaurant can become quite noisy and crowded during peak hours. Despite these points, it's often recommended for its quality and unique culinary offerings.
"Went for dinner on a Saturday evening, the decoration, music, and overall setting was great. We ordered mostly meat dishes and the food was served quickly and was amazing.
The staff were very kind and helpful. Can recommend as a great option if you are visiting Montevideo.
Worth noting also that it’s a good area to park and you can walk around safely."

"We visited this place for dinner — it was quite busy at the time, but thankfully we had made a reservation.
As we settled in, they served a warm meat soup, which was absolutely perfect for the chilly weather outside.
We started with a few cocktails and some fries. We also ordered the Mollejas, which were a standout — beautifully barbecued and cooked to perfection. For mains, we went with the Picana and Entraña — in my opinion, the best two cuts on the menu. Both were served medium rare, just as we had requested, and they were excellent.
The desserts were impressive too, both in taste and presentation.
The only drawback was that the service felt a bit slow when it came to taking our orders.
That said, I’ll definitely be back — especially for the Mollejas and the Entraña. Highly recommended for meat lovers."

"Delicious food (especially the sushi, the ceviche and the eggplant and the zucchini salads), great service by the very friendly staff (despite not speaking much English) and a beautiful outdoor setting. Would not necessarily recommend the spinach bites (found them quite doughy) but overall really fresh and yum."

Gustavo Barbero is a partner at the acclaimed Parador La Huella in the upscale beach town of José Ignacio. After years working in their father's restaurants, his daughters, Jimena and Victoria, proposed a fresh venture: a restaurant that would bring a new twist to Carrasco with a menu focused on wood-fired cooking and an enticing dessert selection featuring fruits. Manzanar opened in 2017 in a repurposed commercial building previously owned by a supermarket chain (hence the name).
