You can't go wrong with the daily egg roll special or the catch of the day. Call early for reservations: the indoor dining room is small, and you'll want to nab a table in the candelit back courtyard if you can.

Famous guests like President Joe Biden and Martha Stewart already know that Savant is the perfect place for an unforgettable night out. The family-owned restaurant is known for eclectic and locally influenced cuisine, as well as its gorgeous back patio. If a spot that comes with stunning waterfront views is up your alley, there’s Polly’s at the Pier and Off the Wall, though AMA at Cane Bay undoubtedly features the most breathtaking setup.

Also Savant and Bacchus don't appear to be going anywhere - they're pretty upscale and mostly indoors, so I didn't mention them as being the most kid-friendly. And I forgot to mention Tutto Bene - it's all indoors and noisy, but the food is great. I didn't gravitate there immediately - my thinking was "why eat Italian in the Caribbean", but the menu offers much, much more and the service is fast, friendly and very attentive.

We love downtown fine fixture Savant, but we were looking for new and off-the-eaten path. I was craving real West Indian food, but Ziggy’s Island Market at the gas station down the road wasn’t serving its banana fritters, curries, rotis, pates, and johnny cakes when we stopped by, and Café Fresco had inexplicably closed the morning we went (island time and all). We hit glam The Fred, all the talk in Fredericksted, St. Croix’s port town, between meals, but at least got to enjoy some yummy coconut-flecked Painkillers and a costly cone of fries around the waterfront pool.

Friends who have the money and the palate to eat in all the best restaurants say that Bacchus is the best of the best, but also love Savant, Tutto Bene, Kendrick's and Indies (all within walking distance of each other in Christiansted). They were not at all pleased or impressed with Top Hat but your mileage may vary. Rumrunners is another choice toward the fine dining end, as is Villa Madeleine and, I'm told, South Shore Cafe.

A very popular restaurant on the island serving Thai, Mexican, and Caribbean food. Their fajitas are phenomenal!. They have indoor and outdoor dining but it's still a very small and intimate restaurant so be sure to make a reservation!

Rated one of the Top 10 Restaurants in the Caribbean by USA Today’s Top 10 2017. Savant is one of my favorite places to dine on St. Croix. The food is out of this world and was voted “Most Creative” by the VI Daily News Readers.

The sparkling lights on the patio and romantic ambience immediately transport you. We loved the creative cocktails like the Ruby Red Martini. The cocktails are strong, however, so be prepared to relax and take it easy!

I love walking into restaurants that have magical entrances. Little paths that you take wondering what culinary treats you’ll discover at the end. This was the case with Savant Cafe.

Savant: Almost as famous for its beautiful indoor setting as for the stellar quality of its food, this is the place to come if you want to splash out on a luxury dining experience.

Also, if Savant is still open you might be able to walk there. It is 1/2 block down from Fort Christian and really great food and ambiance.
