What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Jam Tree offers a dynamic experience, transforming from a family-friendly daytime spot to a lively evening venue with great music and a vibrant atmosphere. Diners praise the excellent food, particularly burgers and steaks, along with well-mixed cocktails. However, some patrons have reported issues with slow or inattentive service during peak times, and a few reviews mention very negative interactions.
"This place is awesome. It's great for families during the day and even has a play area for kids with a small number of children's activities such is blowing bubbles and a small play area. You can enjoy beer, cocktails and wine at any time and the food is excellent. I really enjoyed the burgers. The waiter was excellent with great table manner and there was a good atmosphere. After 18:00 it then switches to more of a night life vibe. Which is also great as it caters for all. Highly recommended."

"The Jam Tree in Clapham Common has a lively vibe, making it a popular spot for dates and evening drinks. Here’s a quick overview:
Cocktails and Ambience: The Jam Tree boasts a massive cocktail menu, reasonably priced drinks, and a reliable buzz. It’s a go-to spot for many, especially during happy hour. The decor is cool, and there’s even a hidden function room behind a bookcase!
Food Highlights:
Sotong Manis: Deep-fried squid in a sweet and spicy sauce. The crispy batter is exceptional!
Pressed Pork Belly: While the plating tried to be fancy, it fell short. The pork tasted fine, but the crackling disappointed.
Double Bacon Cheese Burger: Tasty patty and cheese, but the crusty bun could improve.
Sirloin Steak: Properly cooked with peppercorn sauce.
Buffalo Wings: Good, but could be crispier.
Bottomless Brunch: If you’re into midday boozing, their bottomless brunch won’t disappoint."

"The Jam Tree is one of Harare’s go-to spots for a blend of relaxed dining, social energy, and vibrant nightlife. Tucked away in the leafy suburb of Mount Pleasant, it offers a refreshing escape with a laid-back, open-air setting that shifts seamlessly from daytime chill to evening buzz.
During the day, The Jam Tree is a casual hangout perfect for a relaxed lunch with friends, a family outing, or even a solo coffee under the trees. The outdoor garden space is inviting, with shaded seating, a friendly atmosphere, and often, families enjoying the space while kids play in the designated areas.
As the sun sets, the vibe picks up. The Jam Tree is known for its lively evenings – from quiz nights and live bands to DJs and themed parties that keep the energy high into the night. The bar is well-stocked, and their cocktail game is strong, making it a great place for after-work drinks or weekend meetups.
The menu caters to a variety of tastes. You’ll find a solid mix of casual pub favorites and more refined dishes. Burgers, pizzas, ribs, and wings are staples, but they also offer vegetarian options and seasonal specials that keep the experience fresh. Portions are generous, and the food hits the mark for both comfort and flavor.
Service can get a bit stretched during peak times, especially on weekends, but the staff are generally warm and accommodating. Making a reservation ahead of time is a smart move if you're planning to go in the evening or during events.
Overall, The Jam Tree strikes a great balance – it’s a spot where you can relax with a good meal by day and let loose with music and drinks by night. Whether you're there for brunch, sundowners, or a big night out, it’s one of those places that rarely disappoints."
