Reviews Summary

The Lookout Cafe is lauded for its absolutely breathtaking views of the Batoka Gorge and Victoria Falls Bridge, creating an unforgettable ambiance. While the views and atmosphere are consistently praised, the food quality receives mixed reviews, with some diners finding it subpar while others enjoy specific dishes. Service is generally noted as friendly and efficient.

"I would give 6 stars if I could. Everything was perfect, from the deco, music, vibes, view. Absolutely nothing to nitpick. Even the waitresses were exceptional. Friendly, welcoming and professional. The view alone was breathtaking but it didn't not steal the limelight of the food; the food was equally amazing. The carrot cake has got to be one of the best I have had in my life. It was moist, and actually very healthy. They served 2 different compote alongside with butter-whipped. And best of all it comes together not too sweet but rather natural sweetness from the compote and carrots. I also understand that the chefs are all local Zimbabwean, very very impressed by the entire team. The only thing I would comment is the tipping culture, p.s. only American culture do the tipping, the rest of the world really don't do it so don't expect every tourist to be doing that nonsense."

"What a fun experience! Absolutely loved my sirloin steak, cooked to perfection. Our waiter was energetic and very efficient. The only thing I didn’t quite enjoy was our seating spot, would have much rather preferred a better view of the gorge. I suggest booking way in advance if you want to enjoy the full experience. I also recommend the crocodile kebab, so tender and flavorful. The French fries were so good, a unique crunchiness and flavor to them. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in Vic Falls"

Ruvarashe Dahwa

"A must see place! The view is absolutely spectacular, whether you're on the lower deck or the top deck.

Seamless process to book and get seated.

The food is honestly subpar. I wouldn't come here for the food but drinks with the view? For sure!

We had Eggs Benedict and the Breakfast Burger. The hollandaise sauce was pure vinegar, and the pattie for the burger was bone dry.

The litchi smoothie is quite nice and so is their coffee. We also had the coffee and pistachio milkshake, which both tasted like vanilla milkshakes.

Would still recommend but only for the view!"

Victoria Falls: Your Ultimate Guide

Perched on the edge of Batoka Gorge, right near the bridge, Lookout Cafe is arguably the best spot on the Zimbabwean side to enjoy a sundowner. The River Brewing Company is perhaps the most atmospheric spot for a brew in town, while the bar at Shoestrings backpacker’s hostel is the place to party on. Dimly lit Invuvu Bar, next to Victoria Falls Rest Camp, is a popular local spot for cheap beers and traditional barbecue.

A waterproof bag: Do not underestimate the amount of mist and water at Victoria Falls. Your telephone, camera and other electronic devices will also have to be properly protected against moisture. Fortunately, Malou and I both have very good waterproof daypacks (Malou de GOT BAG, Chris de Peak Design) that can withstand it, but it is something you have to take into account if you don't have this.
