Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Parque Nacional Calilegua, particularly the immersive cloud forest experience and the breathtaking scenic drive along RN83. Many highlight the well-maintained trails and the abundance of wildlife, making it a top destination in the region. Some note that while guides aren't essential for hikes, they can enrich the experience with local knowledge.

"My experience there was amazing. I went with my dad (absolutely no hiking/walking on trails experience) and they told us which path to follow for it not to be too tiring. While following the path we were able to recognize some birds and some footprints thanks to some info they had given us in the entrance. Afterwards, we continued with the car through RN83 up till the end of the park and it was amazing. As you get higher and higher you go from mountain to mountain and get into different tipes of jungles... there are no words to describe what you see nor feel there. Therefore, I’m leaving some pictures in this post. But remember that just going there by car and making the RN83 until the end of the park is absolutely worth it (be careful because it is a cornice route)"

"Wonderfull park.
You can take a taxi from Libertador for 100 Pesos to the entrance.
Coming back we hitchhiked until the main road back.
The paths in the park are very clear, no need for a guide.
The rangers are very helpful."

Manu Luyten

"One of the best spots in the region. Saw a lot of different birds, saw a few monkeys. The paths are very clear and the walks are very nice. Would recommend!!"

The scenic drive along Ruta Provincial 83 offers stunning panoramic views of the changing jungle landscapes.Instagram Trails like 'La Fuente del Jaguar' provide opportunities to capture the lush cloud forest and its unique flora.Instagram Look for vibrant birdlife and interesting plant formations.

Early mornings and late afternoons often provide the best light for photography in the cloud forest, with soft, diffused light filtering through the canopy. This can also be a prime time for wildlife activity.

Focus on the unique vegetation of the Yungas, including moss-covered trees and diverse plant species. Birdwatching enthusiasts will find plenty of subjects, and keep an eye out for any monkeys or other wildlife. The mist that often hangs in the cloud forest can add a magical atmosphere to your shots.

A versatile lens, such as a 24-70mm or a 18-135mm, is useful for capturing both landscapes and closer details. If you're serious about birdwatching, a telephoto lens (e.g., 70-300mm) would be beneficial. A wide-angle lens can be great for sweeping vistas.

Emphasize the humidity and mist by using a polarizing filter to enhance colors and reduce glare. Look for leading lines in the trails or tree formations to guide the viewer's eye. Experiment with different perspectives, from wide shots of the canopy to close-ups of intricate plant life.
