I’m in Canberra for the week - would I be able to drive up to Charlotte Pass and park the car to go on the main range hike to the summit? Thank you so much!

Looking to hike Mt. Kosciuszko
Hello! Looking to hike Mt. Kosciuszko in a day. Anyone know or has anyone ever done a really early hike around 3-4am. Can I start walking relatively early from Thredbo so that I can take the last flight to Sydney in the Evening? Thanks
Looking to hike Kosciuszko on Saturday, bad weather, is this a bad idea
Hey everyone, me and a group of 4 booked this trip awhile back, but now looking at the forecast, it seems pretty bad up there. Anyone who has experienced hiking in bad weather, would you recommend rescheduling? Or is it still safe to do the hike. Thanks!
💧 Stay Hydrated & Fueled
Carry plenty of water and snacks. There are limited facilities along the main summit walk.
⏰ Allow Ample Time
The 20km return trip can take 5-6 hours or more. Start early to avoid rushing and enjoy the views.
Mt Kosciuszko in Winter?
I'd like to hike up Mt Kosciuszko in winter (July). I'd have snow shoes - or would I need boots with crampons? Incidentally, do snow shoes require the sturdier mountaineering boots or are regular hiking boots ok too? How much is the Kosciuszko Express chairlift and can you take…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking 360° views from the summit, describing the experience as unforgettable and well worth the effort. The well-maintained track is appreciated, though some find the 20km return journey challenging. Weather preparedness is frequently highlighted as crucial for enjoyment and safety.
"Did the main range to Kosciuszko summit plus Blue Lake during Easter weekend.
Great, nice walk. Relatively flat with only ~820m of elevation.
The 1st 14.7 km to the summit was the hardest. Took 3hrs 15mins.
Coming down was easy, peasy
Total 24km pf hike in under 5hrs."

"I have summitted Mt Kosciuszko three times now, twice with a group of teenagers & once for the AAA Extreme Triathlon. What an incredible experience on every occasion. It's an easy trail/path to follow but with some elevation but that keeps you warm and it's all part of the experience and we'll worth it. When you get to the summit (on a clear day) you are greeted to spectacular 360° views that images just don't justify. Being there in person and in the moment is what it's all about. If you think about going for a hike this needs to be at the top of your list. Unforgettable!!!"

"There is no doubt this is the ultimate for any hiker. Your enjoyment will be reflected in your preparedness. Gloves, thermal layers and face covers to protect against wind chill and sun burn. The track is wide, well maintained with slight gradients. It is a 20km return trip to the summit so if stopping at seaman's hut and Rawsons pass you'll need 6 hrs min if doing 1 km every 11 mins ( brisk walking pace). The BOM forecast is no indication of what the elements dish out so book a couple of nights in Jindabyne to give yourself options."
