A picture perfect day snorkelling at Florence Bay 🏝🤿 ☀️ 🤗 Florence Bay is one of 23 bays and beaches on the island and known as one of the best snorkel spots 🐠😋 Years ago when I went to the Maggy, you could drive to this spot but the road has now been cut off due to lack of maintenance. Now you can only access it walking from the Forts car park (approx 5km return), or boat/ski if you’re lucky e...

Reviews Summary

Florence Bay is a highly recommended destination on Magnetic Island, particularly for its exceptional snorkeling opportunities and beautiful, tranquil beach. While the hike to access it can be challenging and visibility for snorkeling can vary, the chance to see diverse marine life and enjoy the serene environment makes it a worthwhile visit. Some visitors note occasional boat traffic and minor coral bleaching.

"We parked at The forts carpark and walked down the hill to Florence and Arthur Bay. Took lunch and drinks with us. 4WD cars can drive and park at Arthur Bay, some potholes as per photos.

On other walking trails we wore hiking shoes, however on this occasion I wore arched support thongs and husband wore his sliders. Found them ok to wear.

We walked straight to Florence Bay, however we still had high winds. No snorkelling as no visibility. Two people tried to snorkel with no success.
Good swimming bay. We swam in the middle and found sand with lots of shells/coral. However, we walked to the left and beach was soft sand, no sharp bits. Lots of shady areas and toilet.

On the way you will see a sign for searchlight tower. It’s definitely further than 600m what the sign advises and some rock stairs. Get to the ladder and have a wonderful lookout. Peaceful location."

It's a 3km hike to the beach, but it's definitely worth it.
We saw turtles, groupers, rays and baby sharks!"

Slavek Heyduk

"Beautiful beach, awsome colours in the ocean and the rock formation, so tranquil"
