What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Garden Island Mangrove Boardwalk, particularly highlighting the unique experience of swimming during high tide and the beautiful sunrise views. Many appreciate the calm waters for kayaking and the chance to spot dolphins. Some note the importance of booking kayaks in advance and being mindful of wildlife.
"Fantastic place to bring your boat, kayak or just walk along the beach with your pet
There are plenty of parks to store even the biggest boat and 3 boat ramps so you won’t be waiting long to put one in the water
This site hosts shipwrecks and low sandbanks you can beach at
Due to the low speed boats have to take, kayaking is a top idea, and the lack of current combined with smooth water make it real easy to get around
If you’re lucky you may get to see a dolphin or two, just be warned that interacting with them is apparently a no go.
All in all would recommend 10/10"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Magic of High Tide
Experiencing the high tide isn't just about the water level; it's about the atmosphere. The calm, glassy water during peak high tide, especially at sunrise, creates a serene and almost ethereal environment. This is when the 'magical' quality of the boardwalk is most apparent, offering a peaceful escape and a chance to connect with nature.
Kayaking and Dolphin Spotting
If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of dolphins in the area. While interacting with them is discouraged, observing them in their natural habitat is a special experience. For those interested in guided tours, booking kayaks in advance is advised, as on-the-spot bookings may not always be available.
Wildlife and Safety Considerations
However, it's crucial to remember that mangroves are natural habitats for various wildlife, including saltwater crocodiles. While sightings are not guaranteed, awareness is key, especially during high tide when the water level rises. Visitors are advised to be cautious, never swim alone, and respect any posted warnings.
