Highest Climb?
I climbed Mount Bogong recently and it's a climb of roughly 1300 meters over 6km. Is there a Taller climb in Australia?

Mt kosciuszko hike questions
Hi, I'm looking to do a 2/3/4 day round trip hike (with camping) which covers ascending Mt kosciuszko main peak and some others along the way. Any suggestions for a good track to follow to accomplish this? Also, what's a good season to do it? June/July or Sept ish?
Water Source is Limited
There's a small creek on the way up, but no water at the summit. Carry enough for your trip. :droplet:
Embrace the Boulder Field
The final climb is a scramble over rocks – it's part of the adventure!

Reviews Summary
Mount Townsend is lauded for its spectacular, serene views, often considered superior to Kosciuszko, and its unique boulder formations. Hikers appreciate the challenging, remote, and wild nature of the climb, making it ideal for overnight camping and experiencing sunrise/sunset. However, the trail's ruggedness, lack of mobile reception, and the demanding boulder scramble are noted challenges.
"Better views than Kosciusko in my opinion, and more interesting rock formations to explore at the peak.
We camped nearby in the saddle between Townsend and Alice Rawson peak. Some nice flat areas with a bit of shelter from wind behind some boulders (although it was still super windy). There was no water up there though, just a small creek on the way up."

"Spectacular mountain peak...the 2nd tallest in Australia behind Kosciusko. Townsend is tough to climb, more remote and wild. No mobile phone reception. The tail to the top is vaguely marked and the finally climb through a labyrinth of boulders is no picnic. Best with a buddy and best camping"
Lee Shipley
"A tough climb and rugged terrain to the top but VERY much worth it. Beautiful serene views, great for a cheeky overnight camp and views of sunrise and sunset."
