"Much more interesting than I’d expected.
It’s a brick train tunnel that was closed down in the 1960s, which seems to have water seeping through the rocks for years. So, it’s a dark, slimy and mossy approx 350 metre walk with drip drip sounds everywhere, puddles to dodge, and some unusual features in the walls.
Most importantly, it’s not a long drive and hunt for a parking space just to see one tunnel, because:
(1) There are two free car parks less than 1km away.
(2) The further of the car parks is in a separate
field, where an old platform is, assumedly a rundown train-stop.
(3) The walk itself is really interesting. On one side, you can look out over parts of the city. On the other side, there are places where it drops down into a grassy almost-canyon. On both sides there are streams and mossy rocks with water dripping out over them. There are kangaroos anda wide range of local trees, flowers, birds.
(4) If you’re happy to keep going, there’s apparently more to see, including falls about 2km further and a picnic area about 3.5km further. (We didn’t go that far, but saw signs about it).
Would’ve been helpful if there were public toilets near the car park and more of a rest area just after the tunnel. But, it was a mighty nice day out anyway."
