Would you stay at a resort on K'gari or do a day trip to the island from Hervey Bay?
Wife and I are looking for somewhere to travel to from Melbourne for 4 nights and K'gari looks beautiful. The resorts on the island look great but are obviously more $$. Do you think they're worth it? Other thought is stay at Hervey Bay and book a day tour. THoughts?

K’Gari island visit
Don't go kingfisher. Go to eurong (K'gari resort). It's on the eastern beach and much closer to the good stuff. The road from kingfisher to anywhere is rough as guts and you don't want to do it anymore than you have to. Edit: you say drive to Hervey bay, depending on where…

Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise Kingfisher Bay Resort for its exceptional staff, cleanliness, and the stunning natural beauty of K'gari. The resort is a popular choice for weddings and special events, with many highlighting the personalized service. While the island experience is a major draw, some visitors note that the resort's amenities, while good, are secondary to the natural attractions.
"Just had a 3 night stay at one of the villas here. Cannot recommend it enough! Everything was so clean and the staff were fantastic.
The beauty spots tour was the highlight of the trip, particularly Peter who made the trip what it was. He had so much knowledge of the island and nature and even taught me so much about the birds on the island as a novice birdwatcher! Lake McKenzie was the most stunning, beautiful clear water to swim in.
Will definitely return to see more of the island."

"We recently had our wedding at Kingfisher Bay Resort, and it was truly the most amazing day of our lives! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The weather couldn’t have been better, the setting was breathtaking, and the staff went above and beyond to make every moment special.
A special mention to Juli, our coordinator, who was simply incredible. She is beautiful inside and out, and her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made all the difference. I honestly can’t imagine our wedding without her. Every little detail was taken care of and more, allowing us to relax and enjoy the celebration knowing we were in the best hands.
The whole Kingfisher Bay Resort team worked seamlessly together, and their warmth and professionalism shone through. We are beyond grateful to have chosen such a stunning venue with such an amazing team behind it.
If you are considering Kingfisher Bay Resort for your wedding or any special event—don’t hesitate. It will exceed your expectations in every way!"

"We have spent three nights in our resort room and feel so rejuvenated. The night walk was brilliant, so happy to see a bandicoot, a flying possum, a trapdoor spider, glimpses of scorpions and Barbara the eel. We watched dingoes, such wonderful animals and the fantastic staff were great role models on demonstrating how to show respect and share the area.
We had a balcony overlooking a pond, garden and sea. Staff were very positive and service was brilliant. I didn't want to leave 😔"

Patience is key; wait for the animals to behave naturally. Remember, K'gari is dingo country, so observe them from afar and never feed them.
