What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lady Elliot Island is overwhelmingly praised as an incredible, bucket-list destination with unparalleled marine life encounters. Visitors rave about the snorkeling, tide pool exploration, and scenic flights. While some find the cost high and WiFi limited, the unique experience and pristine environment make it a highly recommended escape.
"An incredible place to visit. It felt like a "bucket list" type experience. We flew from redcliffe for a 3 night visit. The snorkeling was incredible. The tide pool exploring was amazing. The flight in/out was a lot of fun and very scenic. The food buffet was really good and plenty of it too. Also the café and bar was well priced and the drinks were nice.
I was concerned before we went that it was too expensive for what we were getting (my wife was really keen on taking our kids there). After been there I dont feel that way now. It was worth it for sure.
Being able to wander out to one of the 3 idyllic snorkeling locations and find it empty, wade in and 10min later be swimming beside a white tip reef shark in crystal clear water is something hard to put a dollar value on.
Walking through the tide pools with my kids as the sun sets and finding epaulettes sharks, morays, turtles and endless varieties of other fish and coral is another thing I can't really put a price tag on. It was just incredible.
After 3 nights/4days we were all sad to leave.
Other minor details:
The accommodation was fine as we just treated it as a pit stop and place to rest our heads (we had an eco unit).
There's no free wifi which I found odd in this day and age (wasn't a major for me)."

"Great place, awesome flight and views, unbelievable sea life! Saw so many fish, manta rays, turtles and other sea life!
For people who are non swimmers or poor swimmers like me, lagoon is the place for you. Special thanks to Hannah who took special efforts in finding turtles in the lagoon. I spent almost 20 minutes up close with the turtles which was an awesome experience. The glass bottom boat was good too and snorkeling at the light house was pretty awesome.
Food was great, lots of options. Just one thing, if you wish to use a wet suit, better to carry one from home. They charge you for that. But you can actually snorkel using your swim suit too.
I definitely want to go back."

"This little coral cay is a piece of heaven! It exceeded all our expectations in every way. From the scenic flight to the island, (watching whales perform), to the beautiful and clean rooms (we stayed 2 nights in a reef room) to the delicious and diverse food, cocktail selection, amazing snorkelling (with mantarays, whales and turtles as well as tropical fishes) and warm weather, it had everything! We have travelled a lot and this one is one of our best trips, even though it was short. Thanks Lady Elliott Island! What an oasis!"
