What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Swamp Bay Conway National Park is lauded for its incredible solitude and stunning natural beauty, particularly the sunsets over the islands. However, visitors should be aware that camping facilities are extremely basic, requiring a significant hike in and complete self-sufficiency. Finding a suitable tent spot can also be a challenge.
"Great camping spot. We were the only ones there. Beautiful.
But: not easy to find a place to put the tent. Not sure how this is meant to be a camping site or where to put the Tent.
Also there is no toilet, even though it says so on the Website. Not a Real problem.
It all looked as if nowone had been camping there for ages.
It was a great place for solitude if you are into that kind of thing."

"Parked at the Swamp Bay trail car park. Cycled most of the routes, one of which comes out at the Swamp Bay beach. Wasn't an easy ride up Mt Rooper due to the steep inclines and loose gravel but nice views over the Whitsundays as i got higher. I recommend as a moderate to hard ride. Also it would be good to hike, but you'll need strong legs."

"Unique place to camp. Accessed by a 2.1km walk from the Mount Rooper walking track car park. Tent sites need some working out, no toilets. But an great place to view the islands and sunset. All forms of animals in the rocks at low tide too!
