Apologies for the shaky footage but this was one of those views I just had to share 🥰 This gorgeous sunset spot is from Truganini - the Neck Game Reserve Lookout on Tasmania’s unique Bruny Island. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking panoramic views from Truganini Lookout, calling it a must-visit on Bruny Island. The climb is considered worthwhile for the stunning scenery, and the chance to see little penguins at dusk adds a magical element. Some find the island itself a bit 'drab' between attractions, but The Neck is a definite highlight. InstagramReddit

"Really beautiful view of Bruny Island's The Neck seeing the 2 sides/beaches comes together. It was a decent climb up, all stairs, but not too difficult, okay for most people.

There's 2 paths, one is the climb up to the lookout and the other is the boardwalk across to the beach on the other side.

On the climb up, you are presented with really beautiful views of the beach and the sea with the majestic mountains as the backdrop.

We came really late in winter when the sun was setting and it was a rainy day but even then the view was still pretty great.

There's a small-ish carpark probably enough for around 10cars or so. There's toilet there as well but I would recommend you going for better toilets and don't rely on it and only to use it during an emergency 😅"

Sadiq Aslam

"There are around 225 steps to climb, but the breathtaking views make it absolutely worthwhile. The Neck Lookout offers a stunning bird’s-eye view of the natural beauty stretching across both North and South Bruny Island. The walk first takes you to the penguin lookout, followed by the Truganini Lookout. It was a good workout under the full sun, but the scenery made it all worth it. Plenty of free parking is available, along with toilet facilities at The Neck car park."

Saima Khan

"There are 200+ stairs to the top of this hill. It has the most spectacular views of the ‘neck’ and water views both sides. There is also a boardwalk which at certain times can be the place where you can watch penguins. This is a beautiful wild part of Bruny Island."

The Significance of The Neck

The Neck Game Reserve is a crucial natural feature of Bruny Island, acting as a narrow isthmus that connects the northern and southern parts of the island. This unique geographical formation creates two distinct coastal environments on either side, offering diverse marine life and bird habitats. The Truganini Lookout, perched atop the reserve, provides a vantage point to truly appreciate the scale and beauty of this natural land bridge. Instagram+1

Historically, The Neck has been a significant site for the Aboriginal people of Tasmania. It served as a vital travel route and a place of importance. The Truganini Lookout is named in honor of Truganini, a prominent Aboriginal woman who played a crucial role in protecting her people and their culture. Understanding this context adds a deeper layer to the visitor experience. Instagram

For nature lovers, The Neck is particularly famous for its colony of little penguins. As dusk settles, these charming creatures waddle ashore from the sea to their burrows located near the boardwalk. Visitors are encouraged to observe them from a respectful distance, ensuring their natural behavior is not disturbed. This makes The Neck a prime spot for wildlife encounters, especially for families. Reddit
