Thought I’d check out Government House before heading back home today and give you an update following last night’s announcement that the Governor is considering ‘all available options’ before deciding whether or not Tasmania needs another election. Yes it is hard not knowing what comes next, but by the end of the week Tasmanians should know if there will be an election or if another government ar...

"A very informative and well led tour of the State Rooms in Government House Tasmania, it is amazing to see this 1850's Gothic revival house."

"I had a very enjoyable experience today at the open day for government house. It was a delight to be welcomed by the governor and her partner in person. The highlight was to be able to walk around the gardens including the orchard and the vineyard. Ok its not Versailles but it is an absolute must to see for all locals. I was very impressed to see that actually behind government house it is a village that is very productive! I would love the gardens to be open to the public for picnics and events more often in summer!! Thanks again for a memorable day."

Amanda Graham

"I’m disappointed we weren’t able to go upstairs and eat in the dining room. Somehow I believed that it’s customary to shake hands with Her Excellency upon entering Government House and as a thank you for visiting the Governor treats you to free eggs and bacon. (Might have been confused with a governors wife serving eggs and bacon down at Eggs and Bacon Bay).
Anyhoo, if you’re a Tasmanian you must use this opportunity to have a gander, and also ponder whether it should still exist."
