Reviews Summary

Vaughan Springs Reserve is a charming, off-the-beaten-track spot offering a refreshing waterhole and a unique giant slide. Visitors appreciate its serene atmosphere and historical goldfields heritage, making it a great family-friendly picnic destination. Some find the mineral water's taste unusual, and the kiosk is no longer operational.

"Nice little Springs area, tucked away and off the beaten track from the more heavily visited Daylesford area. Giant slide for kids. Metal though, so if in Summer, I'd take something like a towel to go down on to prevent a nasty burn (childhood trauma lasts!) Scenic little walks around with lots of birdlife. Enjoyable visit for my family. Dogs no longer allowed."

"A nice picnic and swimming hole on the Goldfields track about 30 KMs south of Castlemaine. Bitumen all the way, on a constantly winding road. There is a hand pump allowing you to get fresh mineral water, although you may not enjoy the taste. Otherwise plenty of walks along the old gold diggings from 150 years ago."

"I haven't been to beautiful Vaughan Springs since my parents took me as a child in the 70s. Since moving back to the Bendigo region in 2010, I have to wonder why I left it so long to visit again. It is such a beautiful, serene waterhole, and despite visiting on the Sunday of a long weekend, it was still peaceful enough for our party of three to enjoy a refreshing swim, a quiet chat, and a glass of champers (in that order). I won't be leaving it another fifty years to visit again."
