The coastal scenery was definitely the highlight — rolling waves, cliffs, and stretches of countryside that felt peaceful and nostalgic.
The train itself has a lovely vintage feel, and it was fun watching how excited kids (and even adults!) were when it pulled into the station. The staff and volunteers on board were friendly, helpful, and happy to share bits of history about the train and the route, which made the ride even more special.
The ride is not very long, but it’s relaxing and perfect for a laid-back day out. Goolwa is a sweet little town to wander around when you arrive — I grabbed a coffee and had a quick walk by the wharf. If you have time, you can explore the markets or grab lunch before heading back
