Reviews Summary

Visitors find Fourth Hill Gold Diggings a fascinating historical site with interesting remnants of the gold rush era, including accessible tunnels and informative storyboards. The area offers moderate to steep hikes through beautiful natural landscapes, though some find the historical sites themselves to be quite basic. It's recommended to combine a visit with exploring the nearby town of Warrandyte.

"Quite a hike uphill from the nearest car park at the Gold Heritage Walk. Johnsons Mine is pretty easy, although still uphill, but nothing much to see other than a derelict tin shack and a human size hole in the ground. Nice to see for the history though.
Geraghty's Tunnel is still accessible, for a few meters, but a steeper climb to get there. Some nice tracks and walks around the location and definitely worth a visit to the town of Warrandyte after/before your visit."

"A great piece of local history with a small part of the original tunnel still accessible.
A short walk in or part of the larger walking tracks around there area. It’s well worth a half day visit to walk the area.
There are a number of other mines to visit in the area, and only a few minutes out of Warrandyte cafes and the Yarra river walk."

Glenn Bachelor

"The tunnel is about 500 meters away from the car park. There were quite a few people searching for their fortunes in the creek nearby 😹"
