What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Tiwi Design Art Centre for its authentic cultural experiences, particularly the screen printing workshops and the opportunity to interact with local artists. The guided tours are often highlighted for their informative content and the warmth of the guides. However, some reviews mention a desire for more exploration of the island beyond the main settlement and one instance of misleading information regarding an artist.
"A busy fun experience seeing the Tiwi island at Warramiyanga and doing the silk screen printing. Lovely people there. Id have enjoyed the visit more if we could have ventured further afield to see more of the island but even so its a lovely place."

"Wonderful experience and tour, our guide Philmean (?) sorry if that’s wrong spelling mate, was absolutely awesome, local Tiwi bloke, shared many cultural, historical and personal stories with us. Had a smoking ceremony (informative, and we were part of it) morning tea (homemade damper) tour of the museum (excellent) chat in the shade about the church that featured in top end wedding, looked at the local fish trap, had lunch and then screen printed shirts or tea towels with Alan, Kiera and Shelley (which we got to keep) this was a highlight and really interesting, back on the ferry to Darwin. 👍👍👍 top notch tour 7.30 - 6"

"Get yourself on the Sealink Tiwi by Design tour for a memorable day out from Darwin - a look round the fascinating settlement of Nguiu in the company of a local, a good lunch, then screen print your very own t-shirt or tea towel to take home"
