Did you know that the heritage of the Mekhitarists isn’t only preserved on San Lazzaro Island in Venice, but also in the heart of Vienna? 📜 I had the honour to visit their Catholic church, where Father Vahan kindly gave us a tour and shared so many fascinating stories! The monastery holds one of the richest Armenian libraries in Europe, with over 150,000 volumes! 📚 Can you imagine? It preserves...

While the journey requires a supplementary ticket, most find the experience well worth the effort.

"Excellent monastery and church with gardens. Built to resemble the El Escorial monastery in Spain. Multiple tours on offer. We took a very informative tour with a knowledgeable docent and learned so much. Very easy to reach from Vienna. Parking comped with ticket purchase."

Tony Kehlhofer

"I came to visit this Monastery only for it's outdoor panorama and to practice some photo skills with my camera. I didn't buy a ticket to visit inside of it since it seemed small and not quite promising (the ticket was also quite expensive so I bought some fridge magnets instead). But you can visit a limited preview area that displays info with pictures about it's history and highlighted artifacts. There were also some pics of Klosterneuburg from a past photo contest of NÖ."

O.

"Monastery, winery, and good restaurant. If you visit the town there are great restaurants and shops around the town. Worthwhile visit very historic. There are different tour packages to buy. Winery tour includes wine tasting."
