"In 1631, Johann Baptist Verda von Verdenberg donated a Capuchin monastery. The monastery was built inTurkish War destroyed in 1683 and rebuilt in 1684. The monastery was built in 1785 under Joseph II.secularized and acquired in 1786 by Giacomo Caliano and for the production of silk and cloths used. By 1806, the use of the building as a chemical bleaching, in 1821 as a theater.In 1833, the entomologist Ernst Heeger acquired it by way of an auction and it was followed by the use as Silk factory. The next owner from 1845, old Countess Elise von Salm, a native of Liechtensteinlet the building rebuild like a castle. In 1889, the Thonet family acquired the building. 1931 ofThe Sparkasse of the city Mödling was acquired since 1904 existing district museum housed. From 1945 to 1955, the building served as police station. In 1958 that becameThe building was acquired by the city of Mödling and, from 1965, again used as a district museum.The symmetrical building with elevated three-storey middle part and two-storey Side wings under hipped roofs shows a starkhistoristische facade square with square Pedestal zone and pilasters and garden side at the middle risalit a portal balcony window group and in the terraced gable the alliance coat of arms of Salm / Liechtenstein from the mid-19th century. The nave's baroque nave is preserved in the middle risalit. The formerStachkappentonnenartigen church vaults are preserved upstairs in the ballroom.
