"We went on The Great Festival Hall tour . English speaking at 9am Monday, but do check the website for dates and times.
We used our Salzburg cards.
Entry is behind the post with faces on it , they open the iron gate at the side of the shop about 15 minutes before the tour.
Hermann was a lovely man & excellent guide.
Informing us about the festival hall productions and all the hard work that goes into producing the performances.
He also explained the history of the Festival hall.
We were amazed to see so many beautiful theatres along with the one all us Brits know from The Sound of Music.
This used to be a cavalry training area
The back arches and walls are all carved out of the rock.
I had no idea that a large section of the seating in the main theatre actually lifts up.
I cannot recommend this tour enough
And a big Thank you to Hermann 👏👏"

"So civilized, until intermission lets out and the so-called-well-behaved-locals all want a beverage from the poor, lone attendant at the snack bar. You should have seen that girl move, she was like Neo at the end of The Matrix. The concert itself was, of course, transcendant."
